Fun! Get some ammo too?
I'm really late to this thread but why not bring up a great topic. I'm presently building my first AR and was hesitant at first but then dove right in.
My situation is a little unique concerning my build. Presently I live in New Jersey which has some of the strictest gun laws and concerning an AR they are ridiculous. Pinned stock, welded or pinned muzzle break, no flash hider, bayo lugs, pinned mags to 15 rounds.
Basically friggin neutering a perfectly good and expensive rifle. I will not do it.
I'm moving to SC this July so I am gathering my parts now, minus the upper (don't want to get caught with constructive intent)
Seekins Precision SP-15 Lower
CMMG LPK
Just ordered:
Magpul CTR stock in FDE
Magpul MIAD grip in FDE
Magpul forend/rail in FDE
BCM Buffer tube
BCM buffer spring
BCM end plate
Castle nut
Now I just need to find or wait until its in stock the Spikes Tactical ST-T2 H2 buffer. Not willing to be gouged on it.
Then when I get to SC I will pick up the BCM BFH 16" LW upper and hopefully by then some PMAGS will be around and also some freaking ammo.
Cigars
Great idea!! I moved from ny to LA last summer. First thing l left with was my boat and my AR's.
Build sounds cool!
I have built 6. It's addictive. :-)
Thread Revival!!!
Cigars - How's that build going?
Outback - Any new toys??
I'm in full swing hunt/gun mode now!
Looking to start my first build, a coyote rifle! 20" ss heavy barrell. Extended rail with bipod.
Thought about turning my Colt 6920 into a long range rifle, but I don't want to mod the front sight post...
Here's my FIL's shotgun I totally tact'd out for him for Christmas. Hope he likes it!

I got a 300 blackout single shot last week with a threaded barrel.its beggin for a date with a suppressor!!
It will slay hogs! My bud has his suppressor and is taking it out for his kids tomorrow.
My suppressor is on order.
Slowed down on AR's. Did kill 2 does with the 6.5 grendel This fall!!
NICE!!! Been thinking bout getting a gun trust so I can get myself a few cans!
You willing to let go of any of your ARs??
I've seriously considered the NFA trust route as well, but now I've got this floating boat thing that uses up my fun funds. I might go ahead and establish one before laws change.
I have gone around the bend, thinking about an 80% lower build with a match trigger and good barrel. Not sure what a good barrel is. I here there is a new coating out. I may go stainless. Anyone want to recommend a match grade barrel and trigger?
I've build duck decoys, I've got this :)
LOL!
I don't know enough about the triggers to be able to help you. But, I've done enough research that a Spikes Tactical or BCM lightweight barrels barrels are the best if you're looking for lightweight... (Colt 6720 is also a great lw barrel)
The new Cold Hammer Forged barrels are supposed to be top of the line. Really depends on what you'll be using the gun for and how many lifetime rounds you will put through it. Chromed lined is good for your average wknd warrior shooting for fun. There's several different types of profiles you can chose from too. Just have to read through all the reviews
I'm in the middle of a build right now.
Simple factory Colt 6720 Lower and then this is where it gets tricky... looking for a 14.5" lightweight barrel, mid-length gas system, low profile gas block, pinned DynaComp or Battle Comp flash hider (to make it legal), and a free floating 13" Troy Alpha rail!!!
I know it probably sounds complicated.... Cuz IT IS!!!
This is a similar set up that I'm basing my build off of...
