I sealed everything up again and managed to get the boat on the water for a few minutes. Problem solved. The v drive light now functions properly now. So it looks like the v drive has a leak somewhere. I don't know the extent. It's going to have to wait until next week.
Now comes my question. Has anyone here pulled a v drive and redone all the seals and/or gaskets? This might end up being a winter project for me, depending on how bad this leak is. I really hate potentially discharging any sort of polluted water into the lake if I can avoid it. I haven't had the boat on the lake for any substantial period of time yet, so I don't know how quick and if the bilge fills to the point the pump will go on in a days session.
