I installed my 550u in less than 15 minutes. It really isn't as difficult as it is being made out to be.
Wire the new harness up to your existing power, speaker, and remote wires, then put your radio in and plug the harness into the new radio. Voila...install complete.

No, I used crimp caps. It's pretty easy just slide lay on your back and then crawl head first in your observers compartment and it's right there. Space is tight but it's not difficult.

That should work. I have two of the Kenwood KMR107 remotes. They are kinda spendy but they are so much nicer than those aeware remotes. I had those aewares in my old boat and had a few problems with them.

i swapped mine out this weekend as well, same thing.. no "plug" on the back of the deck like the old model..

also, anyone know what that type of plug is called on the back of the old deck? maybe I can find the other matching end at radio shack so I can keep the wiring harness detachable.
