There was a guy on the Malibu Crew forum that removed the head unit completely and used his Iphone/Itouch to control the audio via Bluetooth. I don't remember exactly how he did it but it looked cool. The thread name was chadilac MXZ. You will have to read through the thread to find it.
i might just do this in my boat..last summer i picked up a new kenwood ( http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-KMR-700U.html ) and you have to pop open the head unit to hook you iphone up to it. i like that but when you get a call or someone needs there phone its a pain sometimes when everyone throws there crap in front of the head unit
I bought one of these last year and installed it in my boat. Works good, doesn't give you the same clarity as a line in but it does give you the ability to change your music from anywhere.Attachment 19055
I tried the after-market bluetooth add on (not the Wetsounds one), but I just wasn't happy with the quality compared to wired. I ended up running a cable for my iphone from the HU, through the ski locker, up through the footwell. Not real pretty, but I just keep my iphone in the cupholders by my right foot and control the music from there.
I have a belkin aircast, works pretty slick but it does take up the aux pwr plug in the glove box as it needs constant pwr. i went this way so i didnt have to deal with recharging. The wetsounds one is also a great option but requires a little install work but if you have a WS-420 it plugs directly into that.
The Wet Sounds BT is universal. It will interface with any EQ's main or AUX input or head-units with AUX inputs. At the most, you might need a 3.5mm F x male RCA stereo cable.
