Like how big of a trailer do I need? Is it smarter to take it all apart of just leave it together? Or is leaving it together a bad idea driving at highway speeds?
I believe a car trailer will work, just put lots of flags on it...
Taking it apart could be difficult depending how old
That's what I was thinking Joe, a trailer that is low to the ground and probably the closest thing I could rent at uHaul.
Anyone else have any experiences that they could share? Tips, tricks, dos, don'ts, etc.
Where are you getting the lift from? I know there are a couple lift dealers in the Kalamazoo area that have trailers made just to transport lifts. Maybe you could rent one from someone near where your lift is coming from.
I'm getting the lift from the Sage Lake area and coming back to our place about 30 mins from Kalamazoo which is about 8 hrs round trip. :( Do you have contact info on those dealers cause I was already looking at renting a trailer (either a car carrier or a snowmobile flatbed trailer) so renting one of these specific trailers made for the job would probably make things MUCH easier.
Thanks Joe!!

Are you going to have anyone service or install/remove each season? When we had to move ours, we arranged to have it taken off the trailer and barged over to our dock from the boat landing. That company loaned us their flatbed trailer for free for our 4 hour round trip.
Actually just heard back from one of these guys and they do indeed have a trailer that is built just to haul lifts and it can be rented!! This looks like the best answer yet because they also provide the service but charge $60 an hr which adds up real fast when they would spend ~8hrs on the road!! :(
Pretty cool trailer and might have to look into owning one in the future to put the lift into and out of the lake. The guy also tells me that loading and unloading is pretty much a one-man job if you can get the trailer right up to the lift!! :)
