Well tomorrow morning I catch a flight to Tokyo, Japan and then swap planes for Busan, S Korea. Never been to South Korea before so it should be an interesting trip.

Great pics. Keep 'em coming. What are you guys doing there?
They are putting the finishing touches on a new drill ship in the HHI shipyard and I got assigned to it so they sent me and my future relief down here to get familiar with the equipment and layout before it heads to New Zealand in Oct to go to work. So I will go home in a couple weeks and probably come back one more time or so.
Great pictures! Thanks for posting. How is the food on the rig?
Ok so I used my ninja skills to shoot some spy photos for the largest ship yard in the world for your guys. 15% of the ships worldwide are built right here...
Here are some of the ship currently under construction in the ship yard

And here is my new ship.
http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2e757c6a.jpg
Currently the ship yard is building the following drill ships
Noble Sam Croft
Noble Bob Douglas
Diamond Blackhawk
Diamond Black Rhino
Diamond Black Hornet
Rowan Renaissance
Bolette Dolphin
and there are like 2 more that I can't remember
There are also 2 more ship yards in S Korea currently pumping out Drill Ships...Job Security haha
Here are some shots of my equipment on the ship. Took them about a year to install all of this.
Twin GE Electric motors make 1250 hp EACH!

http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9e4c1aad.jpg
The white lines are sea water cooling lines to cool the transmissions, pumps, and 1250 hp electric motors
http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/...pscf329496.jpg
15,000 psi high pressure pump
http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/...ps180232be.jpg
http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/...ps66ea4a5b.jpg
these two big cans get dry bulk cement blown to them, from there is falls into a recirculating water jet where it is mixed to the proper density and then we pump it down the hole
http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/...ps43530906.jpg
The two tubs on the left and right are where the cement mixes, those then overflow into the big tub in the middle which is then recirculated and pumped down hole
http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/...psc9688d46.jpg
With this set up we can mix and pump cement at over 15 bpm. which is equal to 630 gallons a minute and we can do this at pressure in excess of 5,000 psi.

Must be unions.
All great but let's see the wake!
Well, tell them to row faster.
we only have 64,368 hp (10,728 hp per engine x 6 engines). But even with all that engine power, we only have 40,230 hp of thrusts with 6 thrusters at 6,705 hp each. We just need more power!
So here are some more fun drill ship facts!
752 ft long x 118 ft wide
36 ft draft!
we have 4 deck cranes, three with a 100 ton capacity and one with a 165 ton capacity
we have a 42,848 bbl fuel tank (roughly 1.8 million gallons)
we are capable of drilling wells in 10,000 ft of water with a rough well total depth of 40,000 ft.
The 210 ft tall derrick is actually two derricks in one, the main one has a lifting capacity of 1,250,000 lbs while the aux one can lift 750,000 lbs.
We can accommodate up to 210 workers out here at a time.
That sounds awesome. Except for one thing. No beer on board, right?
Last day in Ulsan today. Headed home tomorrow just in time for the Jam!
Safe travel!!!!
