Outstanding! I think this is something we could tackle in the off season. I pulled all my own skins last time and took them to a very reasonably priced pro. Might take a stab at doing it myself next time. I have about 3 pieces that could be replaced already.
Good stuff, thanks for the post
i wish it wouldnt cost 2Gs haha..i think this summer maybe the hydro floor and next summer vinyl
You can buy cheaper materials and sell the machine when done to keep the costs down.

That is a GREAT write-up. Only thing that I can't buy is the patience!
What machine would you recommend? I saw one the other day at a fabric store for about $150 that looked pretty heavy duty. We are redoing our poolside lounge chairs now and the little Singer is barely handling it.
I had no problem with 4-5 layers of vinyl with mine...Should be listed in the how to...

Maybe it's the needle? They wear out...
Never even thought about the needle. It's not a HD machine though. It's a wimpy one.
My wife works at a marine cover shop . They use Consew machines there. When we bought our own we talked to the owner she said don't buy anything unless it has a walking foot. We found a used Consew 206rb for 800 in like new condition.
Here are some pics of her sewing room

That's some serious stuff she's got going on there. We'll never get there but we did get our pool loungers done. They came out OK.

Thanks. So glad I took the time to paint the frames while we were making the slings. Hung them up from the swing-set and sprayed them.
Yea, well I heard you were coming and wanted you to have somewhere decent to sit and sip a beer.
nicely done sir

Thanks! Wife posted pics on ebay and now has all kinds of folks asking for help with theirs. I want to get her a new machine but we don't agree on what kind. Me: heavy duty for vinyl. Her: embroidering so she can make some $ on the side doing cheerleading stuff, etc. So, maybe both.
Next year the blue roo is getting an all new interior. Trying to decide if we should got back with the current design or try and do some custom work.

David - if you have the opportunity, and cost is not too much steeper, custom all the way! That is unless you love the factory design.
With a custom design, regardless whether you're keeping it for a long time or eventually selling it, you enjoy the benefit of it being a one-of-a-kind!
Was looking into this....good write up. I'm curious how hard it is to remove the back cushions from the boat?? (front, sides, and large back U shaped one). thanks
Remove the nuts, helps to be very limber
