INT US Championships

Just wanted to see if any of you guys would be going to Bakersfield, CA next week for the INT US Championships. My cousin has been competing in the Expert division all year and placed 2nd in the state so we'll be headed out Tuesday for some nice California sun. It will be our first time in CA and unfortunately I've heard Bakersfield is kind of in the middle of nowhere. Anyone been or have any suggestions to kill time and see some scenery?

We will be there. The competition lakes are actually south of Bakersfield, just west of Arvin, which really seems to be in the middle of nowhere. There are several man made lakes together that are well feed. I believe it will be held in the set of lakes that are left to the ones that has the airstrip in the middle.

My friends flew in today they drove up the coast line to host hotel.
