Heater install question... Square drive bolt in engine block?

Finally starting on the heater install and have a question on where to install the "hot" hose. I have a sensor on the top where Al installed his so am thinking the location Jester shows in the pics here would make the most sense.

The problem is that the bolt at that location has a square head and nothing in my tool box fits it. I thought just a 3/8" extension would work but it's a little too big. Ideas? Maybe they did that so guys like me don't remove it?

My '02 factory install was above the starter on the block. That appears where Jester's is located at. It is just a block plug.
My '10 was on the manifold next to the thermostat housing.

Do you happen to have a pic of the 2010 location? I'm good with the dipstick location if I can figure out how to get the plug out.

Thanks, but that's the Al I was referring to. I've got a sensor in that location.

I added 2 garden hose couplers so you can winterize easier. What about the other port on top?

Also a sensor... I like the hose coupler idea!

'02 - 1 Connection to the block port above the starter and the other to the water pump.

Dan, I used this splitter that came with the kit and added the t stat there and a shutoff valve.

I have that left over...I was wondering what it was for.. :) I think I saw that at homedepot, if not let me know you can have this one for cost of shipping...

I found the parts I needed to make the T, thanks guys.

Another question... I'm thinking I only need one shutoff valve, on the hot side. If the heater core were to get a leak, shutting the hot side only should keep water from flowing through the system, right? Same principle with the hose connections that parrot added... If I did this only on the hot side I should be able to blow the water out the other side. I'm using the low idle wye http://www.heatercraft.com/low-idle-...5-hb-x-5-8-hb/ so the water would just dump out the bottom of the boat when winterizing. I think... Anyone see an issue with my approach?

Better to be safe than sorry or have to add it later.

I added 2 couplers so when you winterize you will be able to see when all the water is out when blowing the lines or adding antifreeze. If not you'll have to guess.

I had two myself, cheap easy insurance..

I was thinking fewer cuts in the hose/points of failure more than anything. If the cold return line was attached to the block it would be a no-brainer though, I agree. Thanks for input. Maybe I should start drilling some giant holes and forget about these little details. :)

The heater hose is easy to cut and add the shut off to. i added mine along the rear locker run.. and one on the top of the block. the hard cut was the slow idle wye tube. I never was able to get to the larger hose to add that, then traded the old boat anyhow. Not sure how the new one is configured.
