It's been below freezing here for about a week but it is suppose to be above freezing starting tomorrow so the worst is over with. The nice thing is we had no wind or snow so it wasn't too bad outside.
BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR in DFW
It's going down to 37 on Thurs. night. I hope we survive. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
no comment as I know some of you are freezing body parts off
We set a few records I guess - 10's and teens and the wind was a bit nasty last week. Our pool has a good 3-4" of ice in spots. Heard a handful of stories of frozen and broken water pipes causing big messes/headaches around our neighborhood as well as a coworker. Feeling sorry for those as it really puts them in a bind around the holidays!
At least the sun is shining today, and the wind went down. Still said -8 on the mirror on the way home from town. I'm waiting for my delivery from Wakemakers today. That'll warm things up a bit! :D I also ordered some parts for the snowmobile. Gotta get that thing out for a few rips.
Looking forward to Orlando over New Years!
For my area norm is a low of 35 and a high of 48 or so. Sunday the low was -10 and the high was 22. Today low was -2 and we are up to 18. The last two days the sun has been out and you think "wow it is a nice day" until you walk outside and go DANG !!#!!! it is cold out. I am going back inside.
Not sure about other areas, but sun for us in the midwest during the winter time is always a very bad sign -- no cloud cover equals very cold temps!!
6 degrees for the low this morning and 20 degrees for the high, but on the flip side we got a good 12-18 inches of fresh powder this weekend in the mountains! Time to do the "other" kind of skiing...
Scott I wish we were getting snow but Oregon has been dry. I know hard to believe. Cold temps and no snow. My Mt. is stilling at 13 inches. We need 35 to get the snow cats out to get the hill open.
Cold without snow is not a lot of fun. We ski at Alta most of the time and they are at 102 inches so far. It has been a good start to the season. Hope you guys get some snow quick.
mild compared to some of you maniacs but 52 hours straight with below freezing temps in central TX. pretty much unheard of for these parts

We are in a temporary lul from some really cold weather we have had for the last week and a half. We dropped down to - 30 C with wind chill down to -40C one night with blowing snow etc. At these temps everything freezes solid, and you do not want to be out in this unless you are dressed properly.. People die in this . I,m glad we are in a temporary reprieve ,hopefully it does not get that cold again this winter. snow comes and goes. And is now lowing and drifting causing more chaos. our ski hills are on track for possible record snowfall seasons though.
We've just got enough snow for our resorts to be open. I've only been up twice so far, but it was fun on Saturday.
Zero degrees when we pulled into the parking lot at Mt Hood Meadows:

Had all the warm gear on! Love the puffy jackets and pants. Handwarmers were a must.

Beautiful blue sky and sunshine at the resort...

And since I still had on my down jacket and polyfill pants, when I got home I finished putting up some more christmas lights. Well, that was after brushing off the couple inches of snow from my boat cover. :-( I can't wait until I can afford a metal carport.
Here's the forecast for tonight. I'm sure all of you can appreciate this, whether you are in the warmth of the south, or chillin out up north with me! Hahahaha!! Attachment 18862
@Mikey - don't miss that stuff at all! Was in Grande Prairie and Nisku working when you guys got your first big blast of snow and brutal temps.
It has been darned chilly here south of Houston too. The locals are bundling up like crazy. The humidity is the killer however that didn't stop me from getting out and doing a set last Sunday! :)
Currently 45F with a projected high today of 52F - geez if I can leave work early today I might be able to get another set in before dark tonight! :)
Geez i feel for you. Since your going for a set, do one for me and showem what Canadians are all about. Those sound like some summer temps here so go out and enjoy, a wetsuit if need might be acceptable...
Ice rescue and diving on Thursday. You want to join in? First time since I joined Dive Rescue three year ago that we have ice to practice on. I'm jazzed. I'll try and get some pics.
What are those little dashes in front of the numbers for? My god! we are bitchen out here because it got under freezing temps and I had to put on a hoodie, still wearing shorts but with a hoodie.
What we haven't had is any damn rain/snow to speak of, driest year since they started taking records, previous record was about 9" of rain and it looks like we wont break 6" for the calendar year. It had better start in January.

Here's what I woke up to this morning.......is it December or January???

2003 SeaRay 182 -- gone but not forgotten...

I'd say it's winter time here. It was really cold last week, -35C (-31F), but bearable now at about -20C (-4F). Good time to take the son for a rip on the sleds.
It's sad when -13 F feels warmer when you go outside.
-5 with -25 wind chill in central OH. Heat wave is coming tomorrow, high of 20.
31 degrees when I woke up this morning and temps in the 40s and low 50s in a few days and stay that way.

Should be the last day of this crap.
We got down to 25 F in south Texas yesterday morning. My sprinklers went off and I had frozen grass and ices on my fire pit in the back yard. I couldn't even take the lid off, it was frozen on.

Beyond... we have entred our ADHD weather pattern here. 25 today, gonna be in the 70's by Friday.
Cold snap followed by this last weekend. Kinda rare thing for the PNW. After the slushfest melt we're on to 40's and soggy gray misery for the next 4 months...

other end of the spectrum, where sitting here at work with the doors open, thinking about closing them due to heat and pollen
Have you guy's ever had to actually use that 4x4 button?!? To add a bit of perspective, my dog can walk across a 6' fence...Sorry you had to use the yellow golf ball instead this week!
I miss the pac nw where that will be gone in 3-5 days. Here, that 9" or so of snow we got back in december is still on the ground :)
and the crappier thing is all the white asphalt around from the salt residue. I can feel my vehicles rusting every time I drive them :(
our average temp for the entire month of January was 3 and I believe last night was the first night of this new year that our nighttime temp didn't start with a minus sign.
You guys didn't get very much. we had 7" by Friday morning and then a little bit more on top of that during the day on Friday.
The Supra was kinda cold. I brushed off snow from the cover a couple times...
This was 4pm on Thursday when it hit and we had a good 4" by then.

Saturday while everyone in PDX was paranoid about weather and the city was literally shutting down, we rallied up to Meadows and had a sweet powder day.
Then we came home and I built us a ski jump at the bottom of our driveway. It wasn't quite long/steep enough to get as much momentum as we would have liked, but we certainly had fun with it.
