My CB400 Project
I know we all like projects around here and this is my latest creation that I am working on. It is a 1978 Honda CB400 that I bought running with a title for $100. I had a old set of R1 forks that I fitted on the front and it is getting converted to a monoshock.
Not mine, it was not nearly this clean.

I was able to get the subframe welded up. Nothing is mounted permanently so it isn't square yet. I need to get the chassis tacked together so that I can pull the motor.

I would kill to find a deal like this! Keep us updated. I kept a ton of spare parts from my stunt bikes for years hoping for a project like this and never started anything.

That is exactly why I am doing it, too many parts left over from track days. Speaking of that do have any old rearset around?

Very unlikely but I will look.

I have over the past years thought about doing this to a bike, but without welding and bike knowledge I have not. On a scale of 1 to 10 is this a project for a me? I can change the oil in the boat and done minor car repair, Water pump, brakes, etc

Oh boy that is a tough question to ask, there are guys that are building bikes like this without a lot of knowledge but most work with fab shops to get the framework done. I have been building things since I was a little kid and I have always had a good mechanical knowledge. On a scale of 1-10 my build is going to be in the 8's. I could not imagine building one without a shop, welder, electrical knowledge and a sense of bodywork it would get way out of budget. Your best bet would be to buy a running bike and tweak on it until you understand it inside out.

I need to start a project like this. The look you're going after is awesome! I might have a spare set of '06 R1 rear sets. I will check when I get home. Keep us updated with pictures and info.
