It's not missing any pieces, that's how they all look after awhile in the housing and the new one will look the same way in no time. I change mine every three years on average but it all depends on the water you boat in and debris, etc. Biggest reason to have a raw water filter otherwise make sure the inside of the housing is smooth as silk, no burrs at all. If it does use 2000 grit wet sandpaper to smooth it out lightly.
Surprisingly its likely not all that bad if you were to clean it up. I've seen worse. Having all the veins intact etc and minus the calcified water spotting its likely not too bad.. Change it just the same seeing as its out now....
As long as the veins aren't brittle feeling, I'd at least keep it as a spare. Looks a little rough but they all do after a while.
when i changed mine last year the old one still looked brand new. ill be putting a new one in in a couple weeks so it will be interesting to see how the current one faired over 100 hours last summer
Does anyone take them out over the summer? I was always under the impression that you were to take it out over the summer and seal it after lubricating it.
What's fair is fair. I stand in silence for my public flogging. :(
