Is anyone out there riding a 2019 55’ hammerhead? Thoughts, reviews, likes, dislikes? Looking at one but buying off the catalog doesn’t give me much info.
Any thoughts are good info.
Thanks
Richard.

I have a 2016 Phase 5 Hammerhead. I really like it, but I will say it is super squirrelly. If you are going from a surf style board it will take you a little bit to get used to it. It is a fast board and great for spin tricks. It is not a beginner board though.

Just looking to update my old Obrien Alias. I just picked up a used Ahi but I am new to the surf style boards. Adding a skim in my size will give me and my guests a couple of options. There is also a Phase 5 XB for sale, does anyone have experience with this board. Dropping a Grand on a board that you may not like is tough.
I hear you on dropping some $ and not knowing if you will like a board or not. Are there any shops in your area that will let you Demo a few? If you are looking for a spare board for guests to use, I would definitely not drop a grand. My buddy has an old Slingshot skim board (can’t remember what the name is), and to be honest it is one of my favorite skim boards. It was probably $300 new 4 years ago.

Slingshot bender. Looks like they don’t make this model anymore. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9c8a46f979.jpg

Thanks. There are shops to try, but Calgary is 1.5 hours away from Red Deer, so trying one and then taking it back is a PITA.
Thank for all the info. Helps make a decision without trying.
I just picked up a 2020 hammerhead 55”, haven’t ridden it yet but will report back. My go-to board (and one of the only I’ve ridden that’s fast enough for my 6’4” 245lb butt to easily stay in the pocket) is my old Phase5 Danielo pro carbon model and figured I couldn’t go wrong with this one. I needed a 2nd board to keep one at home (for riding local with a buddy) and one at the lake house.

Yep, it’s the “peanut” shape. I was torn between finding a 2019 down vs trying the new shape for 2020. I like the idea of the added width at my front foot, but again I haven’t ridden it yet so I don’t know how it’ll play out. In theory I’m thinking/hoping it’s really fast...
