So I didnt feel like ordering a fake a lake kit so i decide to make my own. Went to lowes and got a toliet plundger and hose adapter. I am going to cut a wood pole to lenght to prop it up under the boat.

yep, mine too! About $6 in parts! used it last weekend! Although, I did have ot put a 2x 4 under it to get it snug.. i guess that is what I lose by not spending $45
Next time your using your Fake a Lake can you take pic's of how well it fits.
Sure, the nice thing I like is that I can put the plunger over the PU on the boat then position the handle anywhere I need to get good pressure. On my boat the handle sits tight on the driveway between the bunks on the trailer and I can just raise or lower the trailer jack to get a good seal.

You're in luck.. I was out piddlin with the boat.. Had 2 issues yesterday..
Center front ballast would not drain and I had some leakage at the water pump..
Just used the fake a lake to fix both!
Ballast was clogged hose.. full of straw.. thanks to a bug or VERY small bird..
Leakage was loose hose on water pump..
Anyway.. here is a pic of the fake a lake..

My daughter had a gymnastics meet this weekend so no lake time. Can't compain too much as I bought the boat for my kids - least that's what I tell them & the wife! :p It was 80 and sunny at the lake today and I can hardly wait to get back out there.

Sat was nice.. but windy, but we found some decent water.
dry suit was near warm.
One gal rode a shorty was fine. I think it will be wetsuits from now til warmer times.

Wife called me today and said she won't let anyone cross the ice anymore. In fact she just called me to say the drywaller tried to cross and fell through. On the bright side that means open water soon.

Does anyone have any information on the volume (gph) that the raw water pump produces? I've made a garden hose adaptor that connects to the raw water pump inlet for winterizing and redeployment in the spring. I find that the garden hose begins to collapse and I'm worried that the pump on the sand point well at my cabin can't provide sufficient flow volume to meet the demands of the pump at idle.

I find that hard to believe as I just barely turn on my hose with the fake lake set up and still have back pressure squirting out. Are you somehow bypassing the thermostat?
I tend to agree as too much pressure and water gets wasted and more importantly the engine actually has a hard time coming up to a reasonable running temp.
I made the water hose attachment to the cooler as well. I have not had any trouble with the hose not keeping up?? I have a spare fake a lake if somone wants it. I wont go back after using the attachment I made??
Please share some pictures of the attachment gadget to the cooler. I want to do a engine start before driving to the water next week.Quote:

I'll take some pix and post them later tonight of my adaptor.
Here are pix of the adapter I made. I started witha 1-1/4" ID radiator hose. Used a PVC (not CPVC) Sch40 1" to 3/4" reducer to "plug-in" to the ID of the radiator hose. Fit perfect! Wrapper the male end of the short garden hose extension with teflon tape and screwed it into the ID of the Sch40 reducer. I let the male end of the garden hose act as a tap to cut their own threads and I assembled.
Works great - no leaks.
To use, remove the hose from the raw water pump inlet and replace with the adapter. Connect to your garder hose and turn the water on.
I don't worry about the fake lake slide off or lossing compression as I get in and out of the boat (which tends to raise or lower the boat relative to the ground).

I have a VDrive, and it appears that it would be alot easier to disconnect on the VDrive and add the hose adapter.
I wonder if any issues with too much water pressure. I have about 55psi at the facet.
Mcdye, I am thinking thats exactially where I attach mine.. If I recal correctly the raw water goes through the V drive then to the impellar and engine. As for the pressure dont know there? Have somone turn on the valve to just where you need it for the flow.... Geeze I have been away from my moomb for to long guess I better go get her!!!
Still learning. On my it does go through the VDrive, then thru I would guess a transmission cooler (based on the hoses), then to the impreller. It seems logical and easier to use in the input of the VDrive.
Here is my out of water adapter, I removed the VDrive inlet hose and attached it there. Tested this weekend, worked awesome and not a big mess in the driveway as with a plunger or in the boat either. I wanted clear hose to make sure not sucking dry and did not have to turn the water on full blast. Cost less then $8 with items from lowes.
Where are all the pictures? Is anyone else having trouble seeing the attached thumbnails on this and many other posts? Am really trying to get a picture of the DIY Fake a Lake but can't pull any up?Quote:
