A future boat owner was looking at my board racks and asked if there was a way to lock the racks to discourage opportunistic theft.
His concern was that he would like to leave the boards in the rack while boat is parked overnight in his marina.
Anyone seen a solution?

You could use a cable lock to secure them to the rack. I would suggest taking them out of racks and putting them under cover or taking them with you. Don't let laziness cost you money. Thieves are opportunistic and only go after easy targets most of the time.Quote:

Agree, boards are too expensive to leave in a marina and frankly most boards won’t tolerate that much UV/heat while clamped.

My thoughts are a single key actuated switch that engaged electric locks. Many first responder vehicles have these on their compartments. Simple relay system and actuators. It could engage on every hinged seat and door compartment.

In your case, I would have sold too. I sold my Crownline at the beginning of the summer after I had secured the Makai and sold it for 11k more than I bought it for. It was in above great shape though too. Had someone on the lake here just buy a 21 SE550 , used it once and then sold it for 40k more than he bought it. It's some crazy times!!Quote:
