Exile looks like a custom skims with high quality materials at a very reasonable price.

Is there a difference between a straight skim board and a wakesurf skim board?
Santa is swinging by and grabbing a 4'6" with futures boxes... looking forward to trying it out in a couple months.
The advertised sale price of $399... so $435 shipped.
Now I'm deep into the endless selection of Futures fin combinations with the 5 boxes on the board. Picked up a pair of nubsters to play around with the pair of fins that come from Exile to try a quad setup for the first time.
John John Florence groms or smalls, same with Lost Mayhem, Blackstix F4, Chaos medium or large flares....those are kinda the go to futures fins. A center skim fin might be nice. Not sure how Exile does their fin boxes, but the nubs are like .5" deep while the larger fins are .75". Have fun!!

Love these fins in my Soulcrafts!! I had the Blackstix F4 fins first and then got these and haven't gone back to the F4s...just handed them down to my son to use on his Soulcraft.
The machados looks pretty slick... torn between the medium vs. small front fins on a thruster setup. Looks like the machado fronts are quite a bit bigger than the F4s. You think that is driving your preference?
Not super into spins and I'm more into the ocean surfing type of carving / slashing, so I'm thinking mediums might suit my riding style as well.
Futures Solus.
You’re welcome.

those machados are pretty badass looking.
been riding futures f4 blakstix for 5 years-ish. maybe time for something new.....
I can just never get over the cost on the futures fins.
I get the R&D and tech in them but dear lord their profit margins must be nuts.
How much bang for the buck are these future fins? Do they make that big of a difference?
Do they make a bad board good?
Do they make a good board awesome?

I think they make a world of difference and can't recommend them enough. I have forgotten my bag of Futures fins in the truck before and had to ride the stock fins for the day and it is not even close to the same. The drive, speed, ability to recover from spots that you would not be able to recover from with the stock fins, and how they carve are phenomenal.
Can anyone recommend a future fin for a phase 5 Key/Matrix?
Or are these really for the surf style boards?

Surf style boards, I don't think they make anything for a Skim style board.
Futures were night and day on my soulcraft.
Id never go back to stock.
But ya sonic.... over 100bux for some fins is stupid.
I scored mine with the board. Jeff sold to me "at cost" for $55 so quite a bit of margin as i guess he still made a buck off it.
Not sure I’ve seen good fins on sale on the net.
Most are full price or sold out.

Board came in and it looks really nice... fat surf profile with a relaxed rocker:

Tip got damaged in transit but Exile is going to swap for a replacement.
Now just have to pull the trigger on fins!
Great looking board, do you have to add a pad on it?

Real surfers use wax...
It comes with a set of raised / textured foam rear pads and flat texture strips for the front. Still deciding whether I want to run the rear foam pad with wax for the front for a more oceanic surf experience or run both front and rear pads for maximum laziness.
Looks good, they want to sell me the blem board? :D
Having never used wax on a wakesurfing board, does it not get tracked into the boat and all over everything?
Finally able to ride the Subsonic, it is a nice riding board. Only spent about 15 minutes on it, but it seems to perform. Super stable, fast. Used some Vector honeycomb V2 fins. I am by no means a surf style expert, but can tell I will enjoy this board for a long time. At for the money, it feels like it should cost double.
Well I finally have power for the first time in 3 days and the temperature inside my house has crested above 40 deg F... still working on the running water part though.
Of course the most logical thing to do with these "new world" luxuries... install the traction pads and Machados on my Subsonic and dream about summer!
