2018 Moomba Craz wave help

Hey everyone I purchased a 2018 Moomba Craz with auto wake 2.0 This is out first wakesurf boat we had Yamaha AR192 jet boat before this that would not produce a wake worth anything. We are still trying to figure things out with the boat and setting up the wake now that the break in is done.

First thing is the boats guide did not have any info on the auto wake so we are just making assumptions. We hit the left button till it had the auto wake setting ICON and set the speed and used default pitch and roll and put the throttle forward. we noticed that the speed would go above the speed we set so I am not sure what I am doing wrong there. I thought it was supposed to maintaine it.

Second what weight settings, wake plate and speed have people been using where they are making a wave with good push? I would apprcaite any help. Trying to get this thing dialed in for the upcoming weekend, thanks

Do you just have the stock 650lb bags in in or bigger? The stock bags unfortunately won’t give you much of a wave to brag about, unless you weigh 150lb yourself. As for me, I have 1100’s in the rear lockers and for Natural foot I have 60% on surf pa
Late and 10% on the wakeplate. Goofy is 45/10 and we run 11mph.

The cruise might overshoot the set speed but really should come back and settle on it correctly. Does it hold Speed in the “Cruise” setting?

Thanks for the reply. I should have the bigger bags since 2018 comes with 3000 lb of ballast. I have not run it with just cruise control I was always on auto wake so I will test that out this Wednesday.

When you say surf plat you are saying it is down 60% on the surf side correct? Also do you max out all of your ballast? or have you added any lead ballast? Have you tweaked the pitch and roll settings at all and found numbers that you liked?

I tried to go ropeless (200LB guy on a 5'0 ronix koa fish) snd found I had decent push but when I cruised up fast and fell back I almost always fell out the back side. I plan taking pictures as I go through the process of making this wake awesome. Besides the fine tuning of this wake I love my Moomba so far.

The surf plate is ALWAYS deployed on the opposite side that you surf on.

Sounds like you have 900# rear bags. I have 1100’s. I also add another 400 on the surfside and a 750 across the back seat. I’m contemplating getting lead to eliminate one if not both of those, but with typically 3-4 guys in my crew, we aren’t bothered by the extra bags for now. I fill everything to the max, and don’t use autowake for surfing. I think I may tinker with it again this season as some guys found a way to make it work for them, but when I first started out, I got quickly frustrated with it wanting to empty ballast to achieve its default roll and pitch settings.

For wake boarding I do use it all the time as it makes a great wakeboarding wave and also employs the “launch” feature for the hole shot which makes a huge difference in getting on plane quickly.

okay so you are running 1450 extra lbs on top of the stock 3000 lbs. Do you drive around 11MPH and does the engine have any problems pushing that much weight?

Yep and no issues with that weight. I changed to a OJ 945 prop (15x13) to handle the load better, though.

Do you have the 400 or the 440 engine? And thanks for all of the help, I will play around with these settings and look into that prop. Super stoked about this summer of surfing.

I swapped my 900s for Enzos and added 500lbs of lead to the nose, no problems whatsoever, I too have the OJ 945 upgraded prop.

Are the Enzo's common in the Craz? I want to order something today, and am back and forth between the Enzos and guinea pigging Wakemakers' ExactFit bags designed for the Mojo. I've got some emails going back and forth with Brian at wakemakers and I verified all dimensions on their ExactFit bags this morning. It looks like they'll fit perfectly, and come with fittings for about the same price as Enzos. Question is, how much weight do you really think you get in the enzos? do they fill all the way up? Do you have problems with them popping seats up and stuff? If you're really filling those all the way up, that's a lot more weight, but I seriously doubt they get all they full...

Enzos are described as: Body (Rear Compartment Portion) - 30 x 25 x 26 Arm (Under Seat Portion) - 72 x 25 x 12. my main question about size is, is that 72" base dimension the total length, or just the length of the arm? If it's just the arm then the total length is 102", and it seems like it is WAY too long for the Craz seat (88-ish inches from trim panel in the rear of the locker to the front of the seat compartment).

Also, do you have heat? Looks like my heater is going to eat up ballast space. Bummer.

My Enzo's fit perfectly and fill all the way without pushing up seat cushions. Yes, you will lose all under seat storage but you can still throw a few jackets on top of the bags on each side. What it comes down to for me is being creative with space in the observer compartment for some of my gear.

I do not have the heater so that's something I don't have to contend with.

So, the length is OK and there isn't a bunch of unused bag wadded up in the front of the seat compartment? This sounds ideal!

The enzos fit perfect, the heater is in the way, but only for 12in or so. I plan on using a crate on the otherside to balance out and have some storage. ��

Fatsac.com sells the enzo direct for $390,just have to email them.

Does the heater get crushed? I have one too, and that is holding me back from going to the Enzo’s

You should be able to fold the last 12" of the leg underneath itself and keep the bag from encroaching on the heater....that, or move to Texas :p

my '18 has a box around the heater that looks like it'll do just fine. I've been in a '16 Mojo that didn't have the box, so it must be a somewhat new addition.

Hasn't bothered the heater, my heater has a plastic bulkhead around it. The bag just doesn't fill that part. My only concern is the other side has more lbs so have to take that into account.

This forum is awsome, I have only been on here for a week. Thanks for all of the help. How much of difference does the prop make to the wake and perfomance? does it change the handeling at all or getting it on to the trailer? Did you guys self install it?

Lower pitch means better hole shot.
Let me just start out by saying that you should not be power loading your boat onto your trailer, ever! So the prop that you have/use should not even be an issue. I have never ever had to use power to get on my trailer. The key is have the trailer deep enough where you can basically coast up to the front roller. If you are having to mash the gas to get it up on there you are not deep enough with your trailer. Don’t be one of those guys! It’s bad for boat ramps because it washes away the footing and way to easy to screw up and overshoot the trailer and destroy the hull of the boat.

This forum IS awesome! Enzos and fittings on the way for this weekend. The boat has 9 hours on it and I'm f&*king with it, WTF is wrong with me?!

Now it's REALLY going to rain all weekend, LOL

I'm sure a prop and something for the front will be coming in the next few weeks...

Thanks for the drawing, I'm on the fence about these "Exact Fit" bags as well. Hard to stomach spending over $900 on water bags! Wife won't be thrilled about losing all that storage space either! Seems like the Enzos are the more affordable option...

I was just talking after you idle it on if the prop would hit the trailer. For the question about spending 900$ on the enzo bags why no just buy these. It would get you the weight you were getting by adding the enzo bags, save you 350 and you can keep your most of your storage space???

If you have a lift, this would be a viable option....if you trailer, it'd be an effin pain in the ass. I keep my lead under my bow cushion so it's not a major ordeal to move from the bow to the truck bed. If my lead was tucked in the corners of the rear lockers it'd be hard to move back and forth and you really don't want to trailer with it in your boat.

I got 500# shipped for $495, so I can't complain. Also they don't use actual lead (it's steel shot), so health wise a better option.

LOL, no one uses actual lead....both Wake Ballast and Lead Wake use steel shot, as well as POP Products. POP is the cheapest but their bags seem flimsy and aren't wrapped in Cordura.

Were you happy with what you had before and just needed a little extra?
I have 3000lbs currently and generally not a real big crew, decent wake but just wondering if I should add another 500lbs of lead.

I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to do it with just 500 pounds of “lead“ in bags but I’m going to see. At the very least perhaps I can get away with just one 400 pound bag on one of the seats which will be a lot better than taking up half of the cabin area with additional ballast bags. If only I had some more people in my crew that weren’t afraid of getting up in the morning to go surf then I wouldn’t need to add ballast! Lazy sumbitches! They think that I am unreasonable to not want to go out and try to surf at 1 PM in the afternoon when every dickhead is out there with a tube or a Jet Ski; turning the water into a fucking washing machine.
Conversely I’m not the same kind of asshole that goes out at 7 AM to ruin glass by surfing. We typically go out early 7-8am and get everyone’s wakeboard sets in, and then usually around about 10 AM we start to surf.

Right now I have 1100’s in the back, 500 IBS and 700 Center tank. That’s 3300lbs hidden. So if I can use the 500# lead and another 400 if I need it I’d be around 4200lb all up not counting meat popsicles in the boat.

Is this a personal opinion or are the actual facts behind not hauling the boat on the trailer with the lead left in it?

Just curious, not trying to flame you RC, but I keep 750 lbs spread around in various spots in my boat all the time and trailer with no issues.

Boatmate trailers warns against it. I'm not saying you can't trailer with lead in your boat, it's just that it'd likely lead to premature wear of an axle bearing or whatnot. This is an instance where I'd rather err on the side of caution and know I won't be given any grief if a trailer failure were to occur.

You can flame me all you want but I lost a wheel on the highway pulling my old boat & trailer. The axle gave out from the trailer being overloaded.

I could not agree with you more. You figure someone says hey would you like to come ride on a bad ass boat for free just bring your own beer and snacks people would be all over it. Then they complain about getting up early but have no idea what a boat launch is like at noon. My wife and I are confused by the "I want to stay home and do nothing on a beautiful day" attitude.

On the lead weight thing, my 3.5 ford f150 can tow 11.5k so I am not worried about adding another 500lbs to this boat.

I have a 6.7L F-250, there was never any contention about tow rigs or tow rig capacity...

I like the green bags(SEAHAWKS), My wife is not going to be happy about all of the loss in storage. where do you keep all of your jackets, snacks, ETC. Do you have any pictures of the wake?

I'm pretty stoked to get it rolling this weekend! i realized this morning that i brain farted and only ordered half the fittings that i need (G6 pumps), so now I've got 4 more coming UPS RED - $27 in fittings, $33 in shipping...

Korey, not to hijack this thread but weren't you working on engine bay storage trays? Wasn't that gonna be a mass production thing?
