I think there are several threads in the "modification" section. You should also look at Deckadence flooring as well, I would like to do this in the future.
Don't put carpet in your boat again. There are too many nicer better options. Search on "hydroturf" and/or "miner's moss". Good luck!
Hope you get a chance to try out different flooring before making your choice. I was stoked to get a boat this year with seadeck type material. Found out even though I had light grey it was HOT! I'm currently using a Supra SC and the flooring is the best I have seen and used. Snap in/out and keeps the coolest out of all the flooring. Not sure what it's called but I will try to find out. http://www.re-viveupholstery.com/ is a good buddy and can help you out with any questions from carpet to synthetic stuff, his name is Glen and does amazing work.
BTW, I searched and could not find the excellent thread that Newty posted describing the carpet replacement. However, he did a long post on wakeworld. This should help if you decide to go that route:

I tried searching threads today and could not find some older ones.
found the one on wakeworld too and that one is pretty great. I do plan to put in Seadek or something like that and not carpet again. Keep you posted and thanks for your suggestions
That was my plan until I pulled the carpet and found the cavernous gaps between the floor panels. It will take some serious time to clean up the gaps and make the floor true enough to use sea deck or the like.Quote:

You can use hydroturf adhered to the panel edges as gap filler then roll your hydro sheets over it. Fills the gaps nicely and looks great.
I remember seeing link where you replaced your carpet with hydro turf. My son and I are in the process of removing our carpet, actually have the ski locker carpet removed and the part of the floor that covers the gas tank. I recall that you covered the panels that cover the gas tank individually. I have seen some pictures where guys have covered the floor in 1 big piece from the back seat up to the ski locker, and didn't cover the 2 panels that cover the gas tank individually. Any thoughts on which way would be easier? Also there are fairly large gaps b/t the panels, what did you use to cover these gaps? Just wrapping/gluing the hydro turf around the panels and gluing to the side & under the pannel? Will this fill the gaps? Also, my floor panel looks to sit directly on the fuel tank, and on 2 of the hoses. It hasn't hurt it in 11 years, (2007 LSV), but was wondering if you had the same issue? Did you modify the panels at all to give clearance for the gas tank & hoses? A little work on the panels with a Dremel would give a 1/4 inch of clearance. Thanks Pat
I think the 1 piece job is a different floor than the one you have. It would look terrible in your 2007 LSV. And, you would not be able to remove panels without pulling the whole new floor up. Not the way to go. I covered the panels separately and used individual strips of hydroturf to "fur out" the edges to make the gaps much smaller. This thread is very helpful (my pics start with post #100 on page 10). Good luck!

Did you guys find that the floor panels actually sit on the gas tank or any of the hoses? Mine look to sit just slightly on the gas tank and 2 of the hoses. There is no damage, but I think I am going to modify the panels with a dremmel to give the panels a little more clearance.
I don't think mine actually sat on any hoses or the tank. They sit on the lip molded into the floor. Don't see any reason you couldn't create a little more clearance if you need to. But, make sure your tank is sitting down properly first and be sure not to leave a sharp edge.

That looks great! Did you use hydro turf? Was 1 sheet of Hydro Turf long enough to go from the back of the boat to the front? I don't see any seams other than the ski locker and the floor that covers the tank section. Did you make a floor template before you cut the Hydro turf out? Did you use the self adhearing hydro turf or did you use glue?
It is hydroturf. There are seams at the front edge of the tank cover and at the ski locker. If you take the time to line up the diamond pattern they are not very noticeable. Hardest part was stripping the floor clean and trying to do it by myself. I used the glue and it really sticks so not muck room for error. So much better than that horrible carpet. I only templated the bow and middle section.
Anyone from the 2015 post? How is this holding up?

3 seasons with it and still looks new. I was hoping for 3-5 years and I'd just do it again. I may get 8-10 out of it. We'll see. I will say I will never go back to carpet.
Yes. The clearance for the gas tank was OK but the way the vent (or maybe fill) hose was routed, it was in contact with the floor panel. It had worn a small pinhole in the hose. I replace the hose and put a piece of tube (1" ballast hose) over it as a sleeve for protection. I put a post with some pictures as a warning to others to check theirs as this was causing fuel vapor to leak and fill the bilge/engine compartment.Quote:

Thanks, question...how closely do you have to scrape the old glue off. We have spent a lot of time getting the old glue off, and it is pretty much down flat to the surface, but it will be impossible to get all of it off.

Removed carpet and scraped glue off today. Where did you start laying down they hydro-turf? Assume stern to bow? Any tricks you can share about matching the pattern up?
Yes bow to stern. I found a thread on here where they removed all of the internal brackets and used a small jack to separate the hull. You have to be very careful and just get enough space to press the turf in the gap. Leave the turf pieces long and align seams then trim the excess afterwards
Here’s my 2008 LSV which I recently completed. I’d probably make a few different seam choices if I did it again but I’m pretty happy so far. About 3 weekends of work but one of those was making Mylar templates of the whole floor which I really didn’t need to do. A few small templates are helpful just to help out with radius’s and the driver’s floor.

I have 1 seem near the locker. You can cut the panel for the hoses, but it's not needed. For pre 06 years you can cover the entire floor with one sheet by removing the floor. For 06 and later you need 2 sheets, trim and tuck the excess hydroturf under the black trim. I use painters tape to make templates for the forward area, then cut.
My boat does not have the black trim around the floor. How is it attached? Is it a solid piece? Is it a flap?
I'm tired of getting stuff jammed in between the seat bases and carpet!

Brilliant! Mine had trim just above the carpet so I bevel-cut my hydroturf to just slide mostly underneath it. This is a great option. Post pics of your final work!
