found this through an article in the paper, so figured we would give it a try...
it's a 20ft dome that sleeps 9(2 plus 2 dogs in this case). all we have to bring is food..
weather looks to be somewhat chilly, but has a wood stove..
should be fun, and much different than hotel living :)

do you hike in or is it right off the road?
1.5 miles on a dirt road, then 500 yards or so to the unit. once the snow flies, it's 2 miles down a trail on either a sled or shoes/telemark skis. the road is shut down to vehicles. This place gets feet and feet of snow in the winter.
apparently these are quite popular in the winter and summer is considered "off season". several miles of groomed snowshoe/telemark trails around, and sledding is unlimited where you can go. going to try this one out and see how it is. if we like it, going to try to plan a long weekend at one next summer with a group. there's 6 of them scattered around a 50sq. mile area and each one has a different draw to it. This one is supposed to have the best views.
Wear hunter orange and don't walk like an elk.
make sure and get up in the middle of the night and knock 2 piece's of wood together and see if you get a reply from sassy

was a last hurrah before gf had hysterectomy and haven't had time to pull off the camera. been pullin waiter duties. been on here a few, but only at work. haven't turned home pc on in a week.
planning a trip in the spring with another group to go back and have a weekend party. amazing views and surprisingly well stocked for forest service and in the middle of nowhere. pup got to see snow for the first time :)

dogs checking things out. the big fat one is kermit, he's been mine for 6 or 7 years. the little one is flumpit. she's around 5 months. I know.. the name. she was named one night with lots of beers and an iphone pet naming app. was kind of a joke, but stuck :)
