Now you're just trying to make me hungry.
Ian you gonna do a bimini at all?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
I have the factory bimini, it just wasn't on in the picture. I also have a bow cover that isn't installed yet.
Ian, what brand of racks were those? I knew they were talked about on here a while back (at least I think those were them) and I really like em.
They are the previous version of Monster Tower rotating, not sure if they are available anymore as they released a new version.
I installed the OEM bow snap cover that I scored off eBay for $15 - not a project for those afraid of drilling holes in a new boat, since this required about 20!

I'm glad I painted the snaps black - gives it that sleek closed bow look!
I don't see any tower speakers yet. What's the hold up? :)

His name is Robert, and he's 7 weeks old, lol
I'm getting the stuff done that requires land first so I can put it in the slip for the summer - the stereo I'll do bit by bit while the boats in the slip :)
I had a few spare minutes today so I broke out the hole saw and popped a hole in the fiberglass under the seat behind the driver to add a rear heat vent.

HeaterCraft Hot Tube installed (this is what the factory installs for the front outlets so they all match);
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/18/hupypemy.jpg
I need to pick up some supplies to plumb it, but the messy part is done!
Got a lot done today!
I hooked up the rear heater vent - what I did was run a tube from one outlet to the rear vent, then I T'd off the other outlet to the 2 front vents - seems to work great and the stuff to do it was like $15 at the hardware store. Here is how I did the T;
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/19/upa9adej.jpg
It looks like there is a lot of extra tube because there is - I tried to match the length of the bottom to the top with the hope that the flow will be similar. I used a T instead of a Y for the same reason (couldn't find a non-directional Y)
I also made as ran my "left to right" harness;
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/19/ydupynyt.jpg
This contains 4 sets of RCAs and power, remote, ground for the ZLD, both wires for the Sony Remote Commander, right tower speaker wire, subwoofer wire, Harpoon remote turn on (wired to the Accessory switch in the dash). I ran this through the bow. I ran a separate run for the ACR LED and voltage gauges (I have 2 small LCD volt meters, 1 for each battery) through the locker, since it was much shorter to the batteries in the floor.
I also got the start battery moved into the locker, but I didn't take any pictures. Tomorrow I'll finish mounting the house battery and wire the ACR.
This was a rainy day project I put together out of scrap Starboard - now my cleaners are in 1 easy to reach spot!
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/19/qa7esa8a.jpg
Also on the docket was the installation of the Sony Remote Commander - super easy, just a quick hole with a 3.25" hole saw. I'll snap pics of that tomorrow.
And yes, that's Babes, Hot Sauce, Performance Boat Candy - I'm trying them all!
cool cleaning caddy out of the spare starboard Ian. do you anticipate it being damaged or interfering with your bags?

Have you skied behind a 2009+ OBV yet? I think the wake is larger than the standard Outback. Any thoughts or ideas on making the wake smaller besides using the wakeplate. I thought I read somewhere about adding some weight to the front.
Sent from my Droid Charge using Tapatalk 2
I actually have, before I made the decision to buy I test-skied at the dealer, and that is what made my decision so easy!
I normally ski at 28.5mph and 15' off behind the DD (I know, slow, I'm like 140 pounds and after the injury that's my comfort zone) which puts me about 5 feet behind the rooster tail, with a wake that's like a speed bump - in the OBV I test skied we ran a little faster, like 30mph and at 15' off the wake (in my opinion) was better than my DD at 28.5, about the same height but much wider so bombing through it for me was way easier.
I haven't skied behind this boat yet, but I suspect it will be the same.
My son and I ski at about 32mph. Wake isn't to bad. Never skied behind an Outback. I just figured it was a lot better since it was a ski boat. I have skied all my life behind outboards. Just recreational stuff. I think my rope is 65'.

I got the sub box in, along with the facia (matching silver vinyl), and subs;

Making the facia out of 1/4" Starboard;

Finished product with the volt gauges for start and house batteries;

The optical illusion making the left sub look not level is driving me nuts. I'm also making 1/2" thick led rings, but I forgot to order the acrylic, so those will go in later.
Ian - have you run speaker wire in that oz tower yet? I think I saw finished pics of your buddies that you did. Do u have any pics with the tower down showing the path of the wire?
I haven't run mine yet, but you are correct I did help do my buddy Chase's boat. I'm unsure I know what you are asking? Like a picture of the wires at the base?
Yes a picture of the base of the tower (with the tower folded forward of course) showing where/how the wires pass from the hull up into the tower.
Ah, that will be an easy one - there is a hole in the base and in the fiberglass - you just have to feed from the front tube into the hole, which is towards the middle/back.
I'll snap pics when I run it, I don't think I have any of when we did the LSV.
I got the amps mounted and mostly wired today;
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/28/bedune5e.jpg
As you can see I went with white Starboard for the amps - all the black was running together, so I figured this would be a good contrast.
Also found the Kicker ZX1000.1 that powers my L7s to be dead, giving me a great excuse to order an Exile Xi1500.1 - more power and matches the rest of my amps!
I mounted the Kicker amp tucked away on the back of the bow seat since it didn't match, but I'm thinking I'm going to move it to the same area as the other amps - I just wish I would have known I'd be switching amps before I cut the Starboard!
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/28/y9y2y9um.jpg
Don't mind the sloppy wiring - I had to un-do some of the finished wiring to trouble-shoot the blown amp - wanted to make sure it wasn't an RCA, head unit output, or wire issue. The wires on the left floor are for the RGBs, need to tie that up to the rest of the harness but waiting to hook up the controller first to make sure they all work.
Ian, kinda confused here, what amps are powering what?
looks like you have a harpoon-is that not powering your towers ?
Harpoon powers XM9s (not installed yet, hence no speaker wires ran to it)
Xi800.4 powers 6 SX65Ms
Kicker ZX1000.1 was going to power 2 10" Kicker L7s, but that's being replaced with an Exile Xi1500.1
Installed Monster Tower rotating racks - not sure why, but I didn't have to modify them to work like Daze did.

The lever comes very close to the tower, but doesn't hit. To be safe I put some soft side Velcro where it comes close as a bumper.
Boat looks great.

Ian, im betten the tower curv is less on the OutbackV than the LSV and thats why. How do you like the racks?
looking good
All I can say is W-O-W Ian!!! I just got my Outback V and love it as well. yours is way cooler than mine though!! :o)
Where did you get the boat cover in your Monster rotating Tower racks above? I have the clip on cover, but like the full cover as well (less water would get in when sitting on boat lift)... Did you order it from your dealer? Sweet ride man, and awesome work you've done on it! I enjoy keeping up with your progress! Great work, and thanks for posting!
That's the factory mooring cover - we had the snap cover on the '08 and I loved it but wanted more coverage.
The racks are Monster Tower but I think they are discontinued, as we got them on a steep discount.
Got my brain-rinse not-so-group-buy Fulton F2 installed this afternoon. I need to swig by WestMarine and pick up the matching winch, and I'll be all set!
Before;

Adapter plate installed (hole was pre-drilled this time, which was nice);

Ready to go!
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/06/08/7y4e9ary.jpg
I also got the ZLD mounted. I decided to go a different route than most, as the bottom of the dash has a curve that prevented the ZLD from mounting flat, and made me mental;
http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/06/08/barupe4u.jpg
Wow! Those look so good!
Looks good. Surprised to see so many tools on the new vinyl.
Thanks!
Sharp stuff stays on the floor, and anything used in the boat is clean, so the vinyl doesn't get dirty. The stuff in the backseat was also on a towel :)
Ian, You got some more pics on how you mounted the speakers, ran the wires? I really like them mounted there..
FWIW.. Lowes has some black plastic plugs that you can put in holes of where the original racks go..
My custom cut SeaDek pad arrived today!
