I was always using tugboat vs drag boat. Get a lot of confused looks after that response.

Yes, the lower the pitch, the lower your top speed, think of it like gearing in a car. There is a diameter and pitch formula online and it explains it, but it is something about pitch being how far the boat moves forward with 1 revolution of the prop.
