I got to try a wakefoil for the first time yesterday. It was pretty sweet, but much harder than I expected. I could see some nasty wipeouts involving the foil under the board. Both myself and my cousin knocked knees, ankles and shins on it!

Yea I think that's why most people I see foiling wear helmets.
Fun behind the 2020 SA today!
The 2019 Butter Bar is probably the best board I’ve ridden. Love it.

That SA is awesome, isn’t the sound system insane!!!!
To bad your buddy is on his phone.

Everything is insane! Love it.
South of that bridge in the second pic is no wake so we were filling ballast, doing sunscreen, and he was wrapping up some work stuff.
It’s bumping 99% of the time. A homeowner along the river called in a noise complaint last week [emoji1787] “Cops: I’m not even mad, that’s amazing”

I have never heard a better sound system.

^^^^ This. that's why I do.
Really? I find that hard to believe. I mean, I have a pair of REV410s on my tower and nothing comes close to them for mid-bass. I've got three 10" subs, the pair of REV410s, and 8 polk cabin speakers. the only area where I'm really lacking is that my cabins are only 6.5's...
Have you ever been on a boat with 4 rev10's or a pair of REV410s?
music is such a subjective thing BUT.....
last boat had 4 icon8's. current boat has 4 rev10's(and a stupidly large box stuffed with a jl 13w7 that's WAY overkill).
the rev's get stupid-loud for a very long ways but imo they are quite "bright" due to the hlcd drivers. I found the icon's to be a much more musical speaker and personally found it to sound better than any setup with revs on them.
will the rev's outplay anything on the market? yes. without question. are they the most musical thing out there? no. not in my opinion.
Yes the new Supra SA JL system is unreal.
I have heard the REV10’s just this summer, very loud I agree, but the richness and quality of the 2020SA sound is amazing AND it’s really loud.
The new technology in the JL amps, the number of 8.8” speakers, the 2 12” subs and the tuning JL Audio did on the 2020 Supras is impressive.
I understand the skepticism and you might need to hear it yourself to believe how good it is.

Agree 100%
Have two buddies with Malibu's one has 4 rev10s the other has 2 rev10s. There is so much highs coming out of those rev10s you cannot have enough mids and bass to even out the harshness of the highs on those rev10s.
I'll stick with the JL setup in my SL and I really want to hear the new setup on the 2020 SA with the 2 12s sub and the new DSP amps.
Are the JLs hlcd? Are you listening to them at wakeboard length?
Because you can't have it all. Obviously if you don't demand a speaker project to 70+ feet you can have even better SQ. That said, I'd put the midbass of my rev410s up against any speaker on the market.

Not at wakeboard length, just at sandbar.
It will be interesting when owners start giving feedback on the new Supra sound systems.
The Amps and custom tuning by JL are next level. Game changer.
Not at all intended as a bash of any other high end speakers or amps.

in context, it all makes sense now. I know that my Wetsounds REV410s are LOUD AF. But the fact that I can make ears bleed at 75 feet doesn't necessarily equate to "sound quality". My context is how good it sounds while still being Loud AF. So we're quantifying with a different value set. :-D
The biggest thing is that we all link up our systems with the Wireless A-Link so we don't have stereo wars and are jammin' the same tunes!!!
I also loved the 2020 SA and those 12s. Sound was really clear. Thumping.

I have a '19 SE that was spec'd out like the 2020's (all JL, from the factory , 2-12" subs, 4- 8.8" towers etc...), the only difference is the new amps for 2020. The sound quality is amazing at max volume, clear, not overpowered by highs, full and rich across the audible frequency band. I'm sure it's not as loud as REV 10's (what I had on my last boat) at wakeboard distance, but at surf distance the sound quality is definitely superior.
I get your point but not sure it’s apples to apples, a factory boat vs your aftermarket system...
But I think at wakeboard length the quad JL tower speakers are great. Not quite as loud but also don’t sound like a cell phone at full blast like the REV10s sound to me. Good balance of sound throw and quality.

"factory" systems have come so far that it really is apples to apples. Boat systems are so damn simple anymore:
- What tower speakers should we use?
- Let's throw a handful of cabin speakers in there
- Sub(s). If we put 1 or 2 in there, it's gonna pound as long as it has an enclosure & we don't half ass it freeair.
- Make sure you have the appropriate power going to everything with class D amps.
- Rock out with your...
But you're VERY correct in that it's not apples to apples comparing a system designed for surf distance to one designed for wakeboard distance. Of course the HLCD's aren't going to have the SQ of a surf tower speaker. That's the apples to oranges.
I don't know that you can really get into a comparison of factory vs aftermarket as tray points out the lines are pretty blurry....
rev10's are considered aftermarket on some boats but are factory on others. jl's are factory now on supras but you can still pick them up in the aftermarket.
amp tuning is really the only thing that you could say is factory about any of the systems anymore as in some cases they are boat-specific however even those have non-factory equivalents that you can buy, just not tuned as such.
boats are really nothing more than a factory hull cobbled together with a lot of aftermarket parts.
I do agree with matt in his review of the ws hlcd drivers. rev10's/410's sound like $hit to me- way too much highs. do they work at wakeboard distance better than most? ya but at a cost of sq when you're surfing or just chillin in the boat. all imo and based on the number of rev10's running around, others think differently.
harkens me back to my old circuit city days as a sales manager.
you want it loud? dcm or klipsch for their 12-15" subs and hlcd highs. pick any receiver that has a ton of power, usually sony or pioneer as they were clean enough.
you want it clear? infinity or polk. smaller subs and actual tweeters. usually sold onkyo or HK receivers as they were considered more musical but less power for same $$.
I would say JL Audio is taking it seriously with Supra and Nautique by helping integrate speaker pods and subs into the boat design.
The going the next step with tuning each model. The new JL amps don’t even have gain adjustments anymore. It’s all done by JL.
I think many will be impressed with the 2020 SA.

have to see one someday. JL makes, imo, the best subs on the market. their amps are decent. not heard their 2ways.
in the car audio area, their subs are really where they get the attention.
I get the jl/supra custom tuning but..... makes it harder to integrate other products and if you swap out for another brand their proprietary stuff is not worth what it could be. that's not a good position on the consumer side. I think bose in cars. good stuff but there's better aftermarket out there. cost quite a bit to integrate with bose and if you take their stuff out it's pretty much worthless. feels like in the boating environment jl is moving in that direction. ws has had amps in tige's for a few years that are tuned and you can't mess with them. it's definitely a downside for those that want to tinker with the setup.
I think about tray's boat and a new 2020 sa. sure the sa is nice BUT 10 years from now like tray's boat, his is actually able to be worked on and tinkered with. some of these new boat electronics are going to be a challenge...... especially as some of the stuff are 1-off's and vendors are not going to support long term.
This is true about electronics but cars like Tesla’s are really starting to prove that wrong. Not to mention Nautique and Malibu, these screens are really lasting a looooong time.
My kids have an iPad that’s over a decade old. Zero issues with the screen, and guarantee my animals put that through more trauma than a boat screen will ever see [emoji1787]

I don’t think it’s at all like oem audio systems like bose for GM cars.
It’s simply the next generation of VXi amps from JL.
Here is the non marine version, but same technology.
