The 1.7 Trans is the best upgrade. 16x13.5 prop or use that as a spare and buy a 16x12 and you can run the 400 all day at 500ft.
Save the $5k for fuel and drinks.

Alright so I’m sold on changing to the SL and keeping the 400 instead of the 450. Seems like the consensus is at my elevation, with the 13.9 prop, I should be good. Thanks again for all the advice, really glad I found this forum.

10K!!??!! Holy $hit! With some extra$$ on top! 400 would be my choice and use that 10k for something really extra! Like I said I have a 400 in a Makai that pulls all day long. I have a 1.76 trans. STILL OFFERS GREAT TORQUE. How many milliseconds faster do you need to get to surf speed?

I’m in the 450 club. I run the 16x13 at 1300 ft currently with 700 lbs and full stock ballast and have had some issues getting up on plane with crew of 8.
I’m always factoring in resale value. I won’t even look at the 400 in a boat over 22ft. Bigger boat = more weight in crew =more push needed, especially if your running into the wind with the Bimini out.
In hindsight, I wish we’d of looked at the SL harder. The updated interior is just so much more functional.
If you stay with the 400, get the thrusters, and never look back.
