Man I hope it's not serious.

Got towed in by fellow Moomba board member KG. Legit Moomba tow boat here. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8f418eb26c.jpg
I’m thinking it’s a starter.

We had a great weekend on the water. 9am starts both Sat and Sun got us rockstar parking at the boat launch. Sat we played for the morning, then met up with friends in their 26' cabin cruiser for some partying. It was a great combo with my boat providing the music.
The wife has been sidelined with an eblow injury but was able to return to surfing this weekend and she's beyond stoked.

It's still wetsuit weather in the PNW, with water temps in the low 60s.

It was a treat to see water like this right in front of the launch on Sunday. Nice enough that I pulled out the slalom to take a run without even having to motor to our 'play spot'.

Definitely used our rack capacity this weekend. at one point, we had 10 different boards on the boat.

at the end of both Sat and Sun, as we started to motor back to the launch, there were dark storm clouds in the distance. we raced back to the launch Saturday and were getting the truck just as the rain started. It went from blue sky and 80+ degrees to dark and strormy quick. (Thunderstorms are not something we get in the PNW much in the summer). Luckily we had all the gear stowed before we motored back so we loaded up and jumped in the truck and drove home in the rain (wipedown happened under the carport at home).
Sunday another surprise thunderstorm was approaching. Bad enough that we saw people at our launch that motored west from a different launch where they were getting hammered.
There were easily 25 to 30 boats and waverunners circling the boat ramp when we pulled up sunday with big swells and whitecaps everywhere. The wife was able to nose me up and I jumped off and got the truck and dunked the trailer. She was able to pick me back up at the dock, but it was way too crazy to get her back off the boat. (Yes, I did the truck and boat because in those conditions I'm not gonna put her in those situations when it's chaotic.). I drove the boat perfectly onto the trailer and climbed from the bow into the bed of the truck and drove us safely onto land. Crazy endings to two great days.
Spent a long weekend on Canyon Lake. Pulled the trigger on a 6'x13' Mission reef mat. This thing is legit. I could easily stand on it and wrestle five kids at once.

The weather sucks in Conroe/houston, no boating in the near future looks like. Linz and the kids went on a little mini vacation since I got called into work over my birthday yesterday.
Hard to put candles in a ice cream snickers bar in a hotel! Lmao
Can’t wait to get out and do some surfing...

Our new favorite thing to do behind the boat. Father son surfing. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...c3907f512.jpeg

Met up with Shane Morris on Ouachita today and got a tour of the lake. We found some shelter from the wind in this awesome little cove for some swimming. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4532015067.jpg

Is that a carbon skim? I love mine...
So this happened yesterday... we bought a new flag with a suction cup and put it on the windshield to jump in the water to cool off. A few minutes later my wife noticed some small flames and the dashboard burning.

Has this happened to anyone else? Do you think if I reach out to the flag manufacturer they will pay for the damages?
Thanks
That’s amazing! Wow. I would sure be shocked if they feel responsible for that, but it’s certainly worth a shot. That’s such a random thing, amazing!

I would think it would be considered a product defect at minimum. It's scary to think what could happen if my wife were not in the boat at the time and we spent an extended amount of time in the water. If the purpose of the suction cup is to mount it to the windshield then I would think they would want to know that this can happen. They should probably change the suction cup to a non-translucent material as well and recall the remaining ones to prevent this from happening again in the future. It was a HO flag and not a cheap knock off.
The sun is bad up here. Saturday I killed off part of my lawn when I washed my clear computer chair mat on the grass. It was on the lawn for five minutes.
You know the flag is only used for use when towing people in Washington state? People ignore the flag when floating around as they tend to be left in the up position a lot.
Water skiing safety—Requirements.
(2) No vessel operator may tow or attempt to tow a water skier on any waters of Washington state unless such craft shall be occupied by at least an operator and an observer. The observer shall continuously observe the person or persons being towed and shall display a flag immediately after the towed person or persons fall into the water, and during the time preparatory to skiing while the person or persons are still in the water.
Thanks for the info -
We normally don't put a flag on the windshield since we never had a suction cup before. We used to just throw the flag into a wakeboard binding on the rack for added visibility. The lake we go to gets a lot of boat and seadoo traffic and there are some bad drivers out there.
Either way I think it is a safety concern for the suction cup causing burning if the intent is to mount it to the windshield.
Wow that's crazy! It would be hard to get compensation most likely but there are probably no warnings about it on the package. Where else would you put it other than the glass?
Scuff up the outside part with some 220 grit sand paper and problem solved, except for your vinyl.
No lake pics this weekend, dunno if there’s any fishermen on here. But me linz and my brother went to matagorda over the weekend for a long overdue (by 2.5 years) fishing trip lol. The rain earlier in the week kinda screwed us, live shrimp were hard to come by and there was a lot of fresh water in the bays, and the wind was nuts. Steady 25kts.
I got the only keeper, a 15” black drum (we tossed back for good karma), my brother caught a bunch of almost keeper reds, and Linz caught all the hard heads! Lol
