Tried out some dusk/late night surf with the new underwater lights. It is an amazing experience. Yes, that is duck tape and glow sticks.

That looks really fun, unfortunately it's not legal in my state :(
LOL! I love the comments about the little Martian Guy!

We talked about how it would be fun to attach some lights to a foil and give the night riding a try. Granted TN wildlife would love to fine us on this one.
We had a great Labor Day weekend and as usual I didn't take any pictures LMAO. We did get a chance to go out on our neighbor's new to them 2021 Wakesetter 23 MXZ and that was fun as I always enjoy riding waves on different boats. When we went out with them we actually got my son out on his first surf (he just turned 2 in June) and he loved it. I took him out twice and then every time I surfed after that he would try to climb out with me saying "I surf with daddy". It definitely made me smile! Now I just need to get my daughter who is 4 to start surfing with me but every time I ask she says "not today" LOL. Anyways here is a video my wife took of my son and I surfing.

Im not judging at all. Im jealous. Truly wish we could do the same.
Back in business! OJ had one in stock and man they didn’t waist anytime shipping it. Ordered it Tuesday and it was here today. Makes Amazon look slow. Now to ship my old one to them for repair.
The more I look at the trailer and how low the lake was makes me think the rear of the trailer just wasn’t deep enough or it came up a bit and I didn’t notice it. Just can’t think of any other way it could hit like that. It’s not like I was super crazy crooked, it was just slightly off centered. I’m mean you can’t get too far off with the guide poles there anyways.

Glad you are back up and running. Props to OJ’s customer service.
My theory on hitting the prop on trailer is you had it too deep and the bunks didn’t grab the hull.
The guide poles flex quite a bit and won’t stop the boat enough to prevent a prop hit.

I know for sure wasn't too deep with the way the water is right now, we're pretty low for my lake, and I've had guys back me in way deeper. Just kind of odd. Water was almost dead calm too. 24+ years of boating, loading, unloading, in all conditions and never hit a prop till last weekend and it hit the trailer. Just very thankful there wasn't any other damage. Prop while not cheap is an easy fix.
So the OJ sent a new brass key with the prop, SC had a steel key in the original prop. I put the brass key in as I think its a nice bit of added protection for the shaft, what do you all think on that one?
I don’t think the key material really matters.
The shaft is stainless, prop is Nibral, therefore you will always have dissimilar metals.
The key will be brass or stainless.
The taper is what truly holds the prop to shaft.
The key is simply back up.
Honestly I would opt for brass in case of prop strike. I would rather sheer the prop and key way versus sending that load into the V drive.

I agree on the brass keystock, but honestly that will probably not shear before the prop turns into a pretzel and passes by whatever you hit anyways. I guess it could always wrap up with a rope or cable or something though and shear it. By the way, I am glad you are back up too. Also am surprised about it hitting the trailer as well as you are. I had always told myself that the trailer design would always protect that from happening as long as I was pretty straight on when loading. I guess that's not exactly true.

Eric is the man when it comes to props. Unfortunately I have been down to his shop way too many times this Summer getting props straightened after several back to back prop strikes with debris in the lake. I asked him if he had a punch card for me because at the rate I was going I was gonna need a new prop by the end of the Summer. Glad to see you.got it handled.
Kinda my thinking use the brass key save the shaft or more importantly the V-drive. Hopefully it never happens but if it ever happened it would shear the key.
Will be interesting to see what kind of timeline they have on repairing the old prop. I figure being the end of summer they are bound to have a huge back log of damaged props they will be working through. At least I didnt kill it past the point of repair.
Yes plan on wrapping up the prop once fixed and keeping the puller in the boat just in case.
both OJ and Acme have weekend saver kits with some nice canvas or hardside cases. might see if OJ will cut ya a deal on one of the cases since you are buying a prop AND doing a repair. they are super nice to keep everything together and easy to store on the boat..
Dollars to donuts I bet your trailer bunks were way too deep. The only way for prop strike is that or coming in way too hot and going sideways cutting across the trailer. Your trailer fenders should barely be under water, like an inch or 2, pull the boat on, let it settle, then either back in further or use the strap and some power to load the rest of the way. Glad Eric took care of you, he is the best!
I keep my freshly repaired OJ 950 in my truck at all times along with my prop puller wrenches and pliers and a new cotter pin to lock it all down. After the summer I have had Im not taking any chances. Weekend saver kit is nice but I am too cheap to pay for a fancy bag when the box it came in will hold it all. I quit power loading my boat for fear of hitting the trailer. Always seems to be super windy or some moron is coming in hot to the dock and makin wakes when I try to load. I just walk it up on there and winch it up.
I bought an OJ kit when I bought my 945. Came with the puller, hardware and hard pelican type case. All in shipped was $725. I wasn't too angry but the website seemed off. However it call came in about 8 days and all quality. Everything was labeled from OJ.
We'll was hoping to get the old prop shipped off today at lunch but couldn't leave work and by that I mean a truck was jackknifed blocking the road. We're trapped between a river and railroad tracks here at work. The driver apparently thought it would be a good idea to go around the railroad cross arms that were down pulling a 48ft trailer, not sure how he thought that was ever going to work in the first place. Then apparently he didn't see the train coming behind the trees. So he through it in reverse jackknifed the trailer and ran off in the ditch. He's extremely lucky the train was barely moving and wasn't going their normal speed. Took the tow truck a few hrs to get it all straightened back out and out of the ditch. So I'll get it shipped off Monday.
You all have a great weekend!
Maybe it was too deep, that’s Larry’s theory as well. Def wasn’t coming in hot, never do but for sure wasn’t this time as I was scared of the low water so was only barely bumping the throttle. I can dang sure tell you I’ll be watching the depth like a hawk for now on or even taking the cautious approach and getting it close and winching the last few feet.

Got off work yesterday morning and decided to take boat and a couple buddies out for possibly the last time before my mondo gets sold. Water was still 80 but air temp was 62. Surfed and foiled some before calling itba day and heading home to get some sleep. https://i.ibb.co/j5bPhWk/20220919-084317.jpg

Man OJ Props in on point. Shipped my damaged prop back last week and they have already fixed it and its on its way back. That's crazy fast service! Now for the bad news, we still haven't had any rain so the water level has dropped to a point where most ramps are not useable for a larger boat. So its looking more and more like my season might be coming to a close if we don't get some rain. Not going to risk any major damage or damage another prop.
Well, good for you on getting a buyer.
Still can ride with us. I cannot go this Wed due to work, but will keep you in the loop.
Yea, new price shock to wives on the 22 and 23 increases. I was just talking to a Centurion owner that had a five year old boat the other day. He was really pissed at their increases over the last few years b/c his wife said No-Go on a new 23 footer for a 2023 model. I get it.

Boat leaves in the AM. Sad day. I loved the little Moomba that could. Found a 2018 mojo in my same colors a couple hours away with a bunch of cool upgrades on it. Not exactly what I want but newer autowake boat. Also found a sweet 21 mojo in NH but its a 1000 mile roadtrip and I have to go during the week as I work weekends. Not trying to rush too much since I dont have a place to keep boat until I get this nightmare of a garage finished but hate to lose the last bit of my season when the wife and kids finally started surfing.
That NH boat looked nice.
Might be best to stay put for now. With the Fed signaling they are raising interest rates in the future, we will see what that does to all the markets - house, stock/bond, car, boat, etc.
From the looks of it online, many are posting boats for sale. Some (probably few) are selling and some have the crazy prices and will probably sit there. I assume that is where 'options' help one boat sell over another. But it's fall and people are talking about putting boats away for the winter up north.
There is also a nice used 22 Mojo in NH as well that I've considered. However, I'd really like to continue to store my boats in a garage bay with an 8' tall door. So I believe i need a pro tower to even have a chance as I believe the Mojo is slightly over 8' with a pro tower. This definitely limits our options on the used market. With inflation and boat prices we are likely to hold onto our older boat and build another taller garage bay to open up our options in the future. The biggest take away from test driving a 2023 Mojo and a 2022 T250 was how well our older boat meets our "needs."

man you are so right. there was around 2k on OI this spring. it's at 3500 now. that's a healthy jump and highest it's been since 3/2020.... and likely the first small sign the wakeboat market pricing will start to drop. I bet there's some better deals late this winter/early next spring.
there's about 40 2023 skiers boats for sale on there and some have actual pics meaning inventory in stock. that would not have been the case in the last 2 years. likely another small sign.
knowing what the market has done in the last 4 years, I would think anyone that bought a boat in '18 to early '20 are in excellent shape to sell a boat IF they are not trying to be greedy. those that bought in '21-'22 I suspect are going to be reminiscent of the housing market from those that bought in '07 and were stuck upside down for some time.
I know if I was running a production line at a boat builder, I would start to throttle back production over the winter to help limit supply to bolster demand. especially at mc/bu where they seem to churn them out like water. likely some great insight into the market when bu releases their annual financial statement for 2023 and 2024 guidance.
I have looked at several boats recently dealer has a 22 Max with 17 hours on it but even at the price they quoted me I still think its just too high. They gave me the guys deal sheet as a reference so that didnt help their case either. Just gonna wait it out and see what shakes out this fall. Will give me time to get my garage completed also so when I do find one I will have a place to keep it.
Trying to get there last bit of summer in. Of course my little girl finally wants to ride her board. Lolhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...076021ad24.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...f084c3d593.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...50697a7232.jpg
