2018 Moomba Craz wave help

Uh oh, hijack time!

Yes, that was me working on that. I've got a design and decided to wait until my boat came to tweak it and then "go to market" with it. It was a flexible/configurable design so i should be able to adapt it to other boats /needs easily (deep bins for stock boats, shallow bins for boats with 110's/enzos, etc). Now my boat is here, and A) all of my free time goes to using it, and B) I'm killing all of that space with MOAR BALLAST!!

I'll get back around to that sooner or later. I also had the idea of something to put on the under side of the locker hatches to hold ropes. Maybe a mesh pocket something like what the surf pockets on the Bimini are made of... I'll just have to see how much space is left when I get the Enzos full.

How are you guys setting up your boats for goofy riders? I have an excellent wake on the other side but struggling dialing it in on goofy. I have pretty much given up on autowake, should keep fooling around with it but I only have so much time on the lake!

Surf tab 70 to 75%. Wakeplate deployed 1/4 or less. Favor a passenger or 2 to surf side.. goofy side just needs a bit extra list to clean up the wave. How much ballast are you running? I make the payments and I surf goofy, so I've got it dialed. Here is a pic of my goofy wave with 4600# set up like I suggested.

Still got some dialing in to do, but the extra weight really woke the craze up! Just like Matt said above I make the payments, and ride Goofy, so that gets all the attention! Actually most of my crew rides goofy, because they learn behind my boat, and my last boat was not so easy to change over, LOL

Just a driver in the boat, enzos in the rear, Autowake 9.0 pitch, 4.0 roll 11.4mph.

I will add pictures when I got home. We took the boat out and tried regular, full stock ballast, stock pitch and roll, wake plate at 20% (thinking about trying 0%) surf at 50%, with 1 driver, 1 adult and a 50lb kid on the surf side.

I was able to ride for about 20-25 seconds before washing out the back. I am riding a 5'0 ronix koal fish and I am 5'10 205 lbs. The wife does not know how to surf but is learning and she could keep slack in the line for most of her ride. Looking at the pictures above I clearly need more weight, I am going to move around the 350lb bags from the old boat and order lead soon.

Do you think with the new weight the 5'0 will be fine or doe I need a 5'5 or something for how heavy I am?

My buddy shown there is probably 5'7" and 140 lbs wet, lol. He's riding my hyperlite shim 5'3". I ride ithe same board, same wake at 260 lbs, no problem.

2018 Craz with the auto wake 2.0

Here is the video for the first time now that the engine is broken in. I apologize for the qaulity of the video and the bad camera work. My Dad was the one shooting it on his Nikon. We will film future videos with a hull mounted GOPRO. This was us with stock ballast and not a lot of knowledge. I have two 350 bags SUMO bags that I am going to use until we upgrade to ENZO or WAKEMAKER bags(wife does not want to lose all of that storage), and I bought the 500lbs of lead from wakeballast.com today.(sorry post man) We cannot wait for that to show up so we can get out there to start tweaking the wake some more. I will keep posting pics as we figure it out.

OK in that case it’s pretty simple to change the adjustment on the surf plate. All you do is go into the second screen when you are not in autowake, and after you engage the side you want to surf on, you use the black buttons on the dash that are underneath the + and - yellow carats to adjust the plate up or down. For surfing on the port side I do not go more than 55% or the wave just goes flat. I still don’t understand why people crank it all the way down to 75-80% and think that this is going to make a bigger wake; because it will not. I think people assume that the more that you deploy the plate the bigger the wave gets, but that’s not how it works at all, as it reaches a point at which the more you deploy the plate, it starts to lift the boat out of the water on the opposite side of the wake that you are surfing and this basically counteracts the ballast that you have put in the boat. I also do not use Autowake for surfing, only wakeboarding.
And another tip is that if you do use it MANUALLY FILL ALL YOU BALLAST TO 100% FIRST, before you turn it on.

Here is the settings I had from this past weekend for my buddies surfing on the port side (natural foot). I’m a goofy footer and my settings are different slightly.

Thanks, I was aware of that page, just found it odd that the autowake did not have a way to get there. My wave was to steep and too short so there was no pocket. I think the poor use of plates and slow speed were the main factor. I will try those setting, do you pay attention to the pitch and roll at all

If the link will work this was our first trip out this year, auto wake at 9 pitch 4.5 roll wake plate 0 surf plate at 65%. No extra weight on this run, just 1140 rears factory bow bag me driving and my youngest in the boat

I'm going to weigh in since I have a 2018 Craz. First, I've learned to use Autowake and it works! Trust it, it gives the best results. I use 200# of lead, split evenly and stock ballast for a great wake. 10.4 MPH, and surf plate at 65 or 60. Usually just a driver an one passenger. I don't understand why others are adding so much extra weight. I'm 6'1', 188# and get plenty of push on port side surging.

The Craz is a great boat with good waves. I also surf a 2017 Wakesetter 22 LSV and its no better than mine.

500lbs of wake ballast is in so this weekend is going to be awesome. I do have one question before I go test all of this out. Do I need to do the calibration reset for the pitch and roll with the 2018 craz? I read the long post about auto wake and was wondering if that applied to these boats as well.

If I do I should probably not do it with all of the weight on the boat right?

The craz wave has significantly more power, push, length and firmness when you get into the 4000+ range. The stock wave is mediocre, slam it and you'll change your opinion on the matter.

Yes, you need to calibrate your pitch and roll. Everyone does. Go back to that Auto Wake questions thread and Matt explains it. I took a 4-foot level out with me, and laid it in the floor. I was able to get my body in a position to get pitch and roll level and still reach the button on the dash to set it.

Okay I will calibrate it when ever it stops raining on the weekend. I have the classic boat a new boat and now the weekends are nothing but rain.

I need help lengthening my wake on this same boat. I have both of my 900lb back lockers filled with my bow and center ballasts filled with the remaining 1200lbs. My surf plate is at 65 and wake plate at 15 and I can surf good on it. I then added 400lbs on my surf side back locker and the wake is steep but the pocket is short. How do I lengthen it? I appreciate any advise I can get. I have another 400 lb bag that I could fill but I don’t know if I should with how short the pocket is now.

Put the 400 in the bow, lift your wakeplate up and increase speed.

1. Are they plug and play for the hoses on the moomba
2. How much room is left on the top of the lockers.
3. Does anyone with an 18 have them and does it smash the heater?

Thanks for all of the help. I did not get to ride do to a recent mcl injury but my wife did and she and went ropeless for the first time.

Yes they fit, plug and play, fold the bag under itself on the non-heater side to match the heater side. Order them from fatsac.com, $390, fill out the custom form and ask for enzo 1450s. If you have a heater you can shorten the bag for a perfect fit. They'll make the bag any size you want for cheaper than wakemakers.

Here is a rough video of what it took to get the boat surfing right. When we final got the wave to curl we got excited and the wife surfed it.

We did not get to tweak the pitch and roll settings but we will next time. We did realize that at stock settings. With 4300lbs of ballast, and 1 adult and 1 kid this is what worked.

I apologize for the sloppy edit. I will make a better one when it is close to perfect. Let me know what you think. I Will make a HQ one once it is all dialed in.

Enzos do not come with fittings, so you order them separately. Some assembly required, LOL.

Don't quote me on Qtys for the base system (without G6) - I'm making an assumption there.

On my boat with G6 pumps, the vent hose has a T and hits 2 ports on the bag, and the lengths there aren't perfect with the enzos. My dealer had to replace a hose on my boat anyway and took care of that for me with some of the scrap. I suggest ordering a couple of feet of hose with the bags and lengthening one leg of the vent hose. 3' should do, 4 is super safe.

The bags come all the way up the the bottom of the fiberglass inside of the locker. it actually pinches the vent hose a little when completely full.

I folded the port side bag under itself aft of the heater box and it's fine. The bag will push that seat up a little on me if I let it get completely full, but we mostly surf goofey, so that side want's less weight anyway.

It's working VERY well for me!

Small world! The river is getting cleaner and cleaner every year, we like it since there's almost no boaters, lots of glass water. :)

Just gotta watch out for them barges. They throw a nice surf wake tho.

for people with the craz it it better to have a clean vertical wave for push or a clean folded over wave for push?

I make what I feel like is a good wave then my wife drives it and I lose most of the ballast and wave. I want to know the right one to communicate to her.

Also if anyone has the wakemakers code I would appreciate it. I want to upgrade to ENZO's
