That ok, most people just spend Sunday packing up and heading out anyways. I don't think we will get on the water Sunday since we are heading to Lake DeGray Arkansas Monday Morning.

Does anything good go on Friday or is that for people to show up and unpack?
Ride all day before the crowd! Friday is typically our favorite day on the water.
I'll give it a 3rd. That's why we always arrive on Thursday night.
Are y'all planning on launching in Bethy or on the river at the 19 bridge? (Assuming it's not still half underwater! Lol) I haven't been to Bethy in 5 years or so,do they have enough parking for all the trucks n trailers?
This is the big question. The river is only one foot above normal right now and will probably be back to normal by the Jam. This means 19 will be a viable option. Bethy Creek is a the big question mark, the short "cut" is completely gone, totally filled in with sand from flood the last two years, the rail cut may still be passable but I have heard reports that when the water was 5 ft above normal, depth finders were showing the rail cut to be 4.5 ft deep. I plan on following GCWA closely for reports on how the conditions are as far as the cut goes. Bethy Creek will definitely be preferred but we may have to go to 19. We will see!
I launched from Bethy Creek yesterday. The new cut (by the slider) is very shallow but passable. You're gonna want to wait until you're in the river to fill your ballast that's for sure. We rubbed bottom once and my depth finder was reading less than 2' in a few spots. They said to stay on plane thru that area, but having no experience thru that cut, yeah-no.
The water is still very silty/sandy. It looks more like Lake Houston than it should ;-) There was a little bit of debris, but not bad. The river is still flowing faster than normal too. But on the bright side, it's warm and still buttery smooth.
I'll never stay on plane. I would rathe r get out and use mine thought than replace all running gear. No thank you! Hopefully it will be passable in a couple weeks.

We just need wave runners to act as tug boats and pull us through really slow. I usually fill my front bag to go through there to lift the rear end up some. I'm thinking based on the current dam release rate and flow rate in cricket that the current should be pretty close to gone in 3 weeks. Also hoping that helps some of the sand fall out to green the water up some.

"...fill my front bag to go through there to lift the rear end up some."
I was thinking similarly. If I had shifted my passengers to the front of the boat, I don't think I would have rubbed. but I certainly wasn't expecting 1.5' and it comes up on you fast. lol. Bottom line, it's passable today. And w/more and more traffic thru there, it might get better over the next 2 weeks.
Also, as you enter the river from the mouth of the cut, I think you want to stay right in the middle or somewhat to the left. I was fairly far right on the way out into the river and rubbed again. no harm done. just sand. But I was sure glad to see the depth go to 30+ feet once in the river ;-)
T-minus one week! Our sources from the river say the cut and river are M O N E Y!

It looks like we'll be there just for the day. We're taking my son and some friends out for his birthday. Do y'all think Bethy Creek will be too crowded just for launching and truck/trailer parking? Or should we put in at the bridge? Any idea about how many boats will be there on Saturday?
Looks like we will have around 20 boats, I think you will be fine launching at Bethy Creek, there is overflow truck and trailer parking up by there storage units. Just be sure to pay $5 to launch if you are not staying there. Will you be able to stay for the dinner and raffle?

We could quite possibly stay for dinner/raffle. Do we need to pay anything up front or can we settle up for any expense at the event?
We also could have some room for an extra rider or two. My boys are just getting into wakeboarding and they would enjoy seeing someone throw down. They've been bitten by the bug and it's all they can think about.
So dinner is free, paid for by Rinkers Boat World, raffle tickets will be for sell at the event and will run $5 each or 5 for $20 and shirts will run $5 each. All payments for everything will be collected at the event

Hey everyone! Here is some information on the event that you can save to your mobile device or print out. We will also have some available at the table where we will be selling raffle tickets and shirts. Can't wait, two more days!

Which cut did Cole say was good to go? I have not taken the rail cut, only the main narrow one
I took both last year. The rail cut is longer with some shallow spots if I recall.
The start of it did make me nervous for some reason coming out of Bethy.... Probably due to being unfamiliar with it.
I would love to side scan sonar that whole thing though just to get an idea of what is where from Bethy - through the cuts. But alas my fishing days are behind me & so are the toys I had then.
This event will for sure be a great time! I'm heading to Huston 1 week later, would have been worth the 1.5 hour drive. Have fun and be safe.
Yeah, you would have loved it. If you can move your trip I guarantee you wont regret!
"Which cut did Cole say was good to go? I have not taken the rail cut, only the main narrow one"
I'm not 100%, but I think the original cut no longer exists. It looked like Mother Nature did a bit of sand-remodeling after the flooding.
That's a shame, I loved leading people that had never been thru it for the first time!
Yes, the "normal" cut is now dry ground. You could walk it without getting wet. The rail cut is the only passable way and Cole took an SG through it last weekend

I know the rail cut and it is the only passable one left.

Where I dropped the pin in the picture, is this the rail cut? Looks like the only entrance left of the 'short' cut isn't useable anymore... I haven't been on the river in many many years.
Planning on getting out there Friday afternoon, trying to decide if I'm gonna drop in the creek, or off of 19.

That's it. As you leave Bethy and are motoring that direction, you can see the remnants of the old rail park setup (at least that's what I think it was).
There are also PVC markers to guide you in, or at least there were last year. I'll find out if they are still there or not

Lookin forward to meeting y'all tomorrow... I picked up some food poisoning on this trip. Can't wait to get home this evening. Gonna be a long day tomorrow, Probly won't be able to get too far from the resort bathroom! Lol
That's good to hear, on the way back from Lafayette just now I filed my flight plan to take us on the north side of Houston around Huntsville to try and fly the river. Lol
Houston approach wasn't having it...
Is the resort gonna charge to use the boat ramp and park?
No, you should just plan on dropping in at Bethy, it's where all the action is!
Nope, don't need a room. My parents still live in Huntsville. Me n the wifey are gonna crash in my old bedroom lol...
On a side note, if anyone out there wants to come to the jam but doesn't have their boat or whatever, I'm gonna have lots of room tomorrow and Saturday. I think just 4 tomorrow. I'm always looking for people to hangout!
We had a great time. Sorry we couldn't stay longer.
And David, Please say another thank you to the folks in the Axis who returned our surf board :-|
And a big thanks to Slalom ski shop for the hyper light time machine wake surf board I won in the drawing
