Jack, prayers from the ATL! Hope to hear some good news soon on the kidney.
Only 96 days till the big Alabama-Jama!
Hey guys, just seen this thread. We may try to make it, its too far out to know for sure. We usually take an annual trip to smith lake, al. I may be able to talk to the wife into changing plans for this though.
Check out post #22 above. One of the best lodging bargains on the lake.
2 months out now
Only two months. Better start stocking up on beer, water, food, ice, beer, bacon and oh yeah, more bacon!
Man I would love to go to this but 603 miles one way...... Hmmm..... Let me talk to the wife.
Just called the wife. Looks like we are 75% in. And if we go we will have plenty of room for people to jump in with us.
cool, better stay a couple days then to make that tow worth it
Yeah we would head down Friday after work and be on the lake Saturday and Sunday head home Monday.
Cool. Long drive but a beautiful lake to see.
I will be there. Lake Martin is awesome. See you guys then.

Cool! Gonna be a good time. We'll have to get a group shot near the cliffs of insanity or whatever they are called.
Chimney rock is the centerpiece of Lake Martin

Huh? I meant that they have each defeated Alabama in the last two years.
Aggie fans love Alabama. Everyone I know who went to the game said they were treated nicely, shown around by locals(most had never been there) and invited to tailgate. Sounds like a Herat place to me.
Gig'em Aggies! '88
Oh yeah. Usually gracious as they know you're in for a whoopin'. I will say that Tuscaloosa had the cleanest campus I have ever seen. Those folks treat the whole campus like a shrine. Very classy.
It looks like a herniated disc pinching a nerve is going to keep me from making the Lake Martin get together, possible back surgery soon
The 'Ole L5-S1?
I 've had that discectomy. Surgery is simple and you wake up to instant relieve from that darn sciatic nerve pain.
I was walking around the hospital 4 hours after the surgery.
I think I was off from work for about two weeks.
6 months later I was back training for a marathon.
Yea micro discectomy on L4 L5,my left foot is completely numb, good to here it wasn't that bad of a recovery
worst thing is learning how to roll out of bed for the 1st couple days.
Kinda like having cracked ribs
Loading up to head to Lake Martin in the morning. See everybody up there on Sunday, rain or shine but hopefully plenty of shine.
Why are there no pics yet? How many showed up? Need details!
Sorry but I didn't make it. Forecast was rain all day so I went north to smith lake. How was the turnout ?

sadly-- no turn out, we got 1/3 of the way to chuck's pizza bar and turned around, heavy rain we could handle, monsoon rains in the direction we had to go and pretty much everyone said lets go back. I think we were the only 2 boats out on the lake that day. Maybe next year is will happen.....
you mean absolutely nobody showed up??
That's a damn shame - jumping off those rocks looks like something I would have enjoyed.
Where have you and Kane been all week?
we spent the whole week on the lake, so much better than Florida lakes. Got to Chucks pizza twice-daughter says its the best pizza ever, im no so sure about that, but it is dang good and the beer was good and cold. stopped by the cliffs once and let the kiddos jump. I did get in a single surf run that according to the map would be a little over 5 miles long-my feet started to really hurt or I could have gone longer. went thru about 80 gallons of boat gas I think if memory is right
