Hopeing to hit a week maybe two in October, which will be in wetsuits and or possibly Dry suits. This season has been a really tuff boating year. Weather, commitments and Now an Algae Bloom that is affecting numerous lakes all over Alberta has many lakes closed to swimming and boating.
Still holding out hope to get a couple more weekends out but it has been hard. Still hate to think about winterizing, after just getting back from Florida a couple weeks ago (learning to ski properly). I want to get a little more practice in before all is forgotten.
In Denver, CO. our last day is thanksgiving regardless of the weather. Unless we get a nice day before 12/1, when they close the local lakes to all watercraft. The water is usually in the low 40, but there has been ice on he to break for the ride.
LOL ice to break, reminds me that a local marina does a Christmas ski run every year and they have broken the ice before to do it.
You guys that stay riding late, do you do anything to your boats to keep stuff from freezing overnight? My old boat I couldn't let the water sit in the tubes for the venturi type speedo pickups because water would freeze and break the tubes inside the sending unit. I think the newer boats run off a different system, so maybe that's not an issue anymore (with the paddlewheel style). I'd think I could put antifreeze in the system each time I use it before putting it away, but then won't I be dumping antifreeze into the lake when I run? Curious on what others do when riding late in the season with freezing temps overnight.
Congrats on the house cns. Maybe we can meet up here soon. Where'd you find the house at? Oh..as far as last day...Halloween costume ride is a must so not before that for sure. Most likely well into November.

I might be a willing victim. I live in Vancouver as well (Salmon Creek) and get off work at 4pm typically. Have a buddy that's a polar bear with more passion than money, so if he can surf he'll pretty much brave any water/air temps.
I hear ya. Once ski/snowboard season starts for us, we'll just hit up the mountain every weekend until the season's over. Of course, I still have to do the Board/Board day where I snowboard and wakeboard in the same day. ALMOST did it last year in April but the water was 53 degrees and I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I'm a wimp!
Plus, I'm not a fan of drying off all the dew off my boat in the morning. UGH. What a pain. Yeah, I don't have covered storage for my boat. :-(
I've noticed that a LOT of people have that mindset. There were a crap-ton of people out on the river on Sunday and I think it was everyone trying to get "one last weekend" before other sports took over.
Where did you move to again? Certainly somewhere warmer than the Pacific NorthWET!
I'm honestly not sure when I'll throw in the towel. It will certainly be when ski season starts, though I might make myself available to ride on other boats of people more passionate than me. I do have a farmer john with a jacket, but even then, I'm a cold water wimp... It's hard for me to do water temps below 55.
Some of it also might depend on what kind of solution I come up with for winter "storage".
Heck mine may have been the 1st week of august, damn house move gets in the way....:-?
I lied. I thought I had a couple of weekends left but with my knee rehab I decided to winterize the boat. Ten hours this year...sigh.
Yah sure they are. Who told you such nonsence a Greenpeace tree hugger...haha. You of all peeps should know better and should also be trying to help push the new pipeline down your way.
Oh wait theres a puddle or two in the way that everyones all worked up about. Come on ,not likely to happen , just mostly politicians and tree huggers trying to show off.
Yes the Tarsands create waste etc , yet there is so much said and done to solve this that most of this is non issues. I have never been there directly ,but have seen many pics of befores and afters etc and usually the afters are far nicer and sometimes more eco friendly with all the technology available
This was in reply to Davids post .
I thought it was going to reply to his quote even in all fun.
They main fight against the pipeline is not about pollution but about exports. The main reason for the pipeline is to get the oil to southern refineries where it can be refined and exported. I don't want the pipeline because the oil staying here does us better. And by staying here I am referring the all the pipelines that already carry tar sands oil as far as mid Oklahoma.
And if you ever watch any documentary on the tar sands you would think that everyone in Alberta has a third arm or something lol. I was just curious on a different perspective. I'm all for the oil field but I don't want it all to be developed to fast, you drill it all at once Andy career is short! We need to drag this out till I can retire.

Summer's not over in the Pacific NW! Woot!!!
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-1...00/Weather.jpg
Suppose to be near 100 each day through Sunday with light winds. Look at next week though and in the low 80s. Brrrrr. This is the best time of the summer with school, sports and two months of the same weather most people have gotten off the water.
Since we got our wetsuits, we will probably be out until the water reaches 50 degrees or so, whenever that is!. :)
I have admitted defeat for the year and will be pulling it home this weekend. Weather is till looking good, but we got some stuff going the following two weekends and I'm running out of water on the lift.
I read in some previous posts that towing your boat with the ratchet style cover on can lead to some minor scuff marks and was thinking I would tow it topless for the short 50 mile trek. Do I have to worry about seat cushions blowing out while towing at 65-70mph?
I am not admitting defeat until hopefully the last week in October. We try an run until ice comes on the lake here in Alberta. I was taught by Levi we ride from ice off till ice on to make it worth while to own a boat way up this way!!! Just hopin ice will hold till end of October.
Giddy up!!!!
I think it'll be september 21. we are getting busy at work and will be there most saturdays thru thanksgiving so I'm about done. still a lot of yardwork to do to get ready for the snow. need to figure out how to winterize the new boat as well so that'll take a full weekend day in itself.
hate to say it, but actively shopping CL for a snowblower. hoping I find a deal soon.
I always tow with cover on and I've had stuff fly out on other boats without the cover..I tow lots of miles and 80mph...:)
Looks like we have a few more weekends, was supposed to go this morning, 55ish, the weekends look warmer...

I had the cooler cushion fly out of my boat. Happened the day I bought it actually, made me sick. Then I was driving one time and the same cushion was just like hovering in the middle of the boat. I slowed down about 5 mph and it dropped on the floor and all was good. I also now Velcro the cooler cushion and the one opposite of it to prevent this

I as well lost a cushion out of mine the first day I got it towing it home. Ever since then I take the cooler cushion and the cushion right behind the captains chair and put them down under the helm to protect them from the wind. Those are the only two cushions that would have a problem.
Thanks for saving me a seat cushion, or two!
I just got informed next weekend would be our last trip to the lake for this season due to the kids busy schedule with school activities, well I guess it's time to get started full blast on the winter time boat mods
Early defeat here in the Edmonton area (north central Alberta).
Every year, Indian summer end of Sept.
Nowhere in site this year.
While my boat's winterized out in BC, ski buddies here are throwing in the towel.
Skied a week ago; water 62F (down 6D in 5 days); air 65F.
Air no higher than 55F for the next 14 days, plus windy.
Thus ends another crappy year due to constant bad weekend weather and wind.
PS (Floridians may get a kick in that at water 62F, one guy and one girl were still in their swim trunks & vest; no wet suit).
gisepi, good for you skiing until ice-on. Nobody I know risks their engine block that late. I always (previously) book winterized for 1st Monday in Oct. You must have heated garage.
Fall hit the PNW with a vengeance... I guessing we won't be seeing the sun until May sometime. We may as well live in Alaska.
Could have wakeboarded down the highway Saturday night about 6:00. :(
Pulled the boat Sunday - but never skied this weekend. We still have 1 boat in the water so it could happen this Sunday but not likely. So unless I get south somehwere - nothing till May 2014.
I think we stole your Indian summer.... Looks close to 80 for Wed on CT. Hoping to get out!
premature end to our season. this is the signage posted at all the ramps close to me
