To get rid of the hinges, I picked up an 8' section of aluminum 1/2" by 1/2" by 1/2" channel from Menards and cut it in half so that I would have a piece for each side. Place it right along side of your aluminum angle which is already mounted. The panels fit perfectly into the channel with a snug fit. The channel thickness is only 1/16", but with the added angle next to it, it is more than sufficiant to hold the panels. I am currently adding more pumps and rear bags to my OBV, so I decided to do this at the same time since I already had the panels out. Very happy with the outcome. Please note that you will have to trim about an 1/8" to 3/16" off the bottom of the panels to accomodate the thickness of the channel and the screw heads.
FYI: You can buy aluminum plates and channel on ebay in a million different sizes. Do a search on your size. I bought "L" channel and a plate for my driver's seat and had them shipped directly to my door. 1 min. with a hacksaw and I was ready to go.
kinda back at it, very slowly but got some little stuff done
finished a ballast line-remodified a little and shortened a vent line for the surfbag.
ran the positive main amp wire-ran it off the switch after the recommendation above since it has a voltage display
Looks good!
while working on the wiring I went ahead and hooked the head unit back up to see if it would work as someone commented a low battery could cause that and I remember having to use batt #2 to start the boat last time out, anyway it was a low battery, headunit works.
Thanks Mike Mandley for the troubleshooting help last night-sorry about the damm cell dropping the call, ended up changing the rca's to the rear output on the head unit, and making adjustments to the settings on the 2 amps and now the sub is pounding--had a empty beer can on the dash dancing and the overhead lights rattling. Freaking awesome.
that digital display on the distribution block is pretty cool
Sweet man, glad to help, call or text anytime.
Is there any reason to do the reinforcement mod you are showing here for a 07 LSV? I upgraded the back bags to 1100's and have heard that you need to reinforce the engine side panels. I see that you did it but it looks like your boat is newer than mine. I have it all torn apart now so its a good time to get it done if its something that's recommended. Are there any write ups for this mod specifically.
If someone could tell me how to remove that rear panel that covers the pumps that would be great. Was looking at it yesterday and I couldn't find any screws or anything to remove the carpeted panel in the locker. I need to remove it so I can install my ballast manifolds to the pumps and run my hoses to 3 new bags. I will NOT be relocating the pumps.

pretty sure there was two screws going into the floor and then one on each top corner. really should not be to hard to remove
couple update I thought I should share. I added a larger bag to go under the port seat base, it was filling from the same pump that fills the 1100lb bag and it was just taking way to long, so I installed a 4th reversible pump I already had. now im right at about 11 minutes too fill all 3500lbs of surf ballast (1100 in port rear, 400 under port seat, 500 tank, 650ibs, 550 on bow seats, 300 in starboard rear) added one switch to the dash for that 4th pump. this photo shows the switch http://i527.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps39dd14b6.jpgalso got in on the group buy for the FAE, got a hour today and took the boat out to test every thing and gotta say I love the quite the FAE provideshttp://i527.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps7698af5c.jpghttp://i527.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps5327f5a7.jpghttp://i527.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps8cebf046.jpg
That FAE sounds like a good upgrade for just about everyone. I'm still waiting to see the new Y design I've heard about.
I really want an FAE but I have to take the platform off every time out. Time to look for another house.
They have the quick release option and I had it on the LSV which required removing the platform to garage it each time and it wasn't hard at all. Just 2 pins.
Moombadaze glad you like the FAE, I strongly encourage people to get them and when ever someone wants one, Let me know and even if we aren't ding a group buy I will try to get you a discount on the unit.

This is what I was wondering, how easy is the quick disconnect? I have a lsv that I would love to put this on but I have to take my deck off to put it in the garage.
Thanks, I would love to do this mod this year.
Just be aware that the FAE itself does not come off with the quick release; just the platform does. The FAE will still project 5-6" beyond the wakeplate so you will lose that much clearance in your garage space.
Ah haaa. I didn't know that. I will have to take some measurements. thanks for that info.
Here's a pic of the FAE Quick Release that FAE sent me:

There's also tons of pics on their website.......www.freshairexhaust.com
If your garage space is so tight you have to remove the FAE each time, its not real difficult, just a couple band clamps. Kaneboats is correct though, the FAE does still extend 6inches apx past your wake plate, this is the Down Tube.
thought I would post a couple update, moved my ballast pumps after having to replace the impellers , thought I had the o ring gaskets in place correctly but I did not, 2 of the 4 were leaking. So here is where the pumps got moved to

with the panel closed

got tired of allways sitting on the bolster so I installed a new seat pedestal-about 5 inchs higher
http://i527.photobucket.com/albums/c...psvlyurapc.jpg
and if I find some light grey minors moss I will swap out the mismatched blue
Nice mods. Do you have a link to the pedestal? My wife would be much more comfortable driving if she could sit higher.
Hinged pump panel is a great idea - nice work! I like the higher seat too.
seat pedestal brand is Garlick, I was walking thru West Marine looking for something else and saw it, it was originally way to tall and I had to cut it down
I was able to find a used one on Ebay. Search for "Garlick fluted" on there. The stock one is 7" high. They come in 9", 12", and 15"+ heights. I bought a 12" and cut it down to 10".
Sweet, thanks. What did you guys cut it with? Hacksaw, rotary saw, sawzall?
