I disagree! I have perfect pass so my hand is not on the throttle that often. I kind of like it where it is but that's just my preference.

I wasn't to sure about the placement either but after a season, i agree with Cab. if pulling, PP is always on so both hands are on the wheel so the trim switch is easy to access.

I am curious as to how the larger plate will effect the wake, and whether it will improve or degrade the wake for boarding/surfing.
