PSA for the group. The vaccine does not keep you from getting COVID, it assists in mounting an immune response such that you have severely lessened, or no visible or sensible, symptoms. Vaccinated individuals can be infected, be asymptomatic, and shedding enough live virus to infect someone else. The vaccine is necessary to reduce the severe illness symptoms and death toll. It does not provide sterilizing immunity, merely subverts the immuno-cascade that creates severe complications and death.
Until 80% or more of the populace has had the vaccine, or levels of immunities post infection that are necessary to reduce symptoms, maskless close social contact, should be avoided. It is still undetermined how long acquired immunity lasts. Moderna made statement today that its vaccine should be good for one year.
I don't mean to be a buzzkill. I just want everyone informed prior to events being coordinated, so that each individual can determine their own risk acceptance levels.
