Keeping the ballast tank empty.

Hi. Even though I keep the little switch in the correct position, a small amount of water always accumulates in our ballast bag. Yesterday I turnd the large shutoff valve to the off position. This is the valve between the water intake and the pump.

Since we don't use the ballast, is there any harm in keeping this valve shut?

none that i can think of. Might want to cycle the valve open and closed once in awhile just to keep it from locking/freezing into place
