I measured my prop clearance on a 21SA. 16” prop gives 1.22” clearance to hull.
So a 17” physically would fit, however I am not sure what the minimum prop to hull clearance spec is.
I have read 15% of prop diameter is recommended clearance to hull, but 1.22” already violates that.
With a 17” prop that should drop to .72” clearance. Some guys on MaliBU crew run as close as .50” and claim no gel burn.
17x14 is what Nautique runs on G boats with 2.0-1 trans. Not sure how well a 1.76-1 would pull it.

ACME reccomends a minimum of 3/4” clearance between the prop and the closest point on the hull.
I had 5/8" clearance on one of my old boats/props. Never had an issue.
I ran a 17x14 on my old Tige RZX3. It was barley adequate when running heavy at 4300 feet. That boat had the 2:1 transmission and 440.
My current boat, a Tige RZX2, I run a 17x14 and a 17x17. I swap them out depending on where I'm going. In reality I need one prop, right in the middle and I'd leave it on all the time. This boat also has the 440 and 2:1. I picked up the 17x17 because I ran across it in a local classified ad for cheap.
Buy your prop from Nettles in Texas. They are awesome about letting you test props and swapping out as needed.
Yeah I ram waaaay closer than this on my tige, 1/2" or so with no issues.
I'm just wondering if the 400 with the 1.76 will spin a 17x14
I think the real problem you'll run into is finding a 17" prop that goes on a 1-1/8" shaft. I think 16" is the largest diameter for a 1-1/8" shaft; once you go bigger they are all pretty much designed for a 1-1/4" shaft.
Looking forward to using the 16x13.9 that Supra and Acme worked on specifically for the 1.76 trans.
