please share your best setup for a moomba max ballast/lead
RyanE, I replied on your other thread but just in case you miss it we have a 2020max with 4,000lbs water ballast and 1,500 lbs of lead. 400 lbs of lead in the nose, and 1,100lbs of lead midship. We run the wake plate around 0-20 and surf plates 60-70 depending on people in the boat that day.

nice setup looks amazing
I think he is saying he has 5,500 lbs of total ballast (water and lead). He’s just describing where he has weight placed. I don’t think you’d even be able to pull 7k lbs lol.

Hak is correct. I have 5,500 lbs total. I was just describing how I’ve dispersed the weight. I saw a huge difference in the size and push of the wake once I hit 5,500 lbs. I usually run right around 3800-4000 on rpms. I can’t remember which prop I have but I am about 4600 above sea level with the 400 motor. I run 10.8-11.2 mph when surfing. Burn 8-9 gallons an hour while surfing.

Bmac,
How does the 400 perform at your altitude? We boat between 4500-6500, an are considering buying a Makai. My wife doesn’t see the need for the 450 and prop upgrade. I have no dealers near me (if 4-5 hrs away is really near) me at a similar altitude.
Have you gone to any higher elevation waters, and if so, what elevation is the performance break over?
If you remember which prop you have let us know. We have the standard surf/wake prop and we are at 4600/4700 feet here and are wondering if the high altitude prop would help. When weighted down we can barely hit 10.8 mph
