Ballast Bag Orientation

I'm doing the G3 Upgrade from Wakemakers, (reversible pumps, etc), and I'm wondering if there's any reason not to turn the rear ballast bags around to have their fill/drain quick connect points facing towards the bow? Previous setup had the connections at the stern but thinking on it now, is there any reason why you couldn't/wouldn't do it this way?

My three new reversible pumps under mounted right about the transmission and so lengths of hose would be shorter, which I assume is better. Are there any issues I'm not thinking of in this scenario? Anything to be aware of?

Because the boat typically tilts towards the stern, so having the drains towards the front may not allow them to drain completely

So with reversible pumps and check valves on the vent lines, it shouldn't make a difference, correct? Bags will drain flat?

I am usually draining while cruising, sending water to the stern via gravity. Therefore, drain and fill work best there. I don’t think there is always a perfect vacuum in your bags to accomplish what you want.

Honesty never heard of anyone flipping around and would suspect it could be problematic in this way.

Yes, it'll drain, but you want the vent towards the front so you get max fillage. ��

On my 2007, I put the pumps by the v-drive and fill the ballast bags in the front of the bags. 1100s. The logic years ago was going for the shortest distance.

Last year I was thinking about plumbing them from the transom (back) side for the gravity effect, but the current system works, so I did not mess with it. No timers, so I'm usually listening to the pumps to let me know when they are done draining.

If I drained them while driving it would be hard to hear the pumps over the noise of the motor and wind.

When I'm back at the ramp and on the trailer, I make sure they are raisins. Since I make sure nothing is going to blow off the boat, checking the bags is not a big deal.
