I just had the dealer replace mine completely with new pads last week on my 100hr.
I've had mine replaced before, but they continue to walk out with the tower wiggle from toweing and riding. Unless they are destroyed I would say just loosen bolts and slide them back, tighten the bolts back. Seems to be working for me so far.
First time I asked the dealer to replace, they didin't really seem to know what i was talking about until i showed them.
I used a good 3M adhesive and have not experienced any problems yet. I have had mine replaced 3 times already.
I have done the same.
My next effort is to get them reset, and retighten the bolts. THEN tighten a 2nd bolt behind it.. the issue is they vibrate loose.. even a little lets it bounce/vibrate..
a question I have that just came to me -
How tight should you be getting the tower screws?
I just tightened mine down the other day and really started to "squeeze" the rubber pad so I stopped. Some of the tower bolts were so loose they could turn and others weren't, so I racheted them all down a bit?
Thanx!
Checked my tower screws 1st season. Found some with lock washers, some without, 1 with no nut and several loose. Installed flats, nylock nuts & tightened with a 1/4" ratchet to the point of just starting to compress the pads. No problems with pads moving and no loose bolts.
That sounds like a good solution. I'm checking mine tonight.
