Winner Winner. Woo Hoo!
A very special thank you to our friends over at Wake Garage and at Glide Bearings and Seal Systems! WakeGarage.com had a drawing where you enter a picture of your boat to win a new thru hull dripless seal system from Glide Bearings -- the sponsor that was kind enough to donate the system. I entered a picture of my 2008 Moomba Mobius LSV and won the drawing. Yes, me. I never win a thing in those kinds of drawings but this time my number came up.
Anyway, I took some pics of the box when it came and you can see the seal system and swag below. Please visit our friends at Wake Garage and check out the Completed Projects Database. You will find some very cool ideas in there and a couple of my own projects as well. Also, check out: http://www.glidebearings.com

Congrats brother! Now report back with how the product is, install, etc. Stoked for ya.
-
Okay, I'll ask the stupid question...WTF does this glide bearing do?
-
-
10-4...I learned something today.
-
Congrats! That’s pretty cool. You gonna do the install?
-
Eventually. I haven't even inspected mine in a while. Time to check alignment and everything else and we'll see. I think the original dripless ones are supposed to go 10-12 years. I'm at almost that now.
-
Mine went in my 2013 under 200 hours but I’m not sure it wasn’t a factor of misalignment. Not a fun job, that’s for sure.

My $8 graphite cord has been in for 14 years.

There was nothing wrong with the old "drip" system but "dripless" is an upgrade. I don't think anyone with dripless is going to retrofit to the cord tho. Especially on a V-drive when it is a little harder to get down there and reach the packing nut, etc. When I do my replacement I'll breathe easier for the next 10-12 years and after that I'll be on oxygen anyway.
