There have been posts over the years about hanging boards up in the garage.. just saw this this morning.. pretty cool.. now I just gotta sell my house in Mississippi and buy one up here that HAS a garage!

I like your setup. I need to hang everything that I have. I usually put it all back i the boat. It gets to be a PITA when I need to work on the boat and take everything out. Do you have some type of support within the PVC for strength?

The PVC is 1" schedule 40. Pretty strong stuff

I have 3" straight section that goes thru the 2X4 and secured thru the side of the 2x4 with a 3" deck screw, then a 45 degree elbow, then the 2' straight pipe.

The 2x4's are secured to the walls with 1/4" x 3" tapcons.

Can you post close up pics when sometime? trying to visualize and can't .

Heres what I did. This is just that white wakk track with the shelf arms and 1/2" pipe insulation. I've since added more racks and reconfigured some things but you get the idea.

Please tell me you winter-store the Outback in the heated garage. I remember you saying something about winterizing. Is that just precautionary?

Of course in the heated garage, and yes winterizing is just precautionary for me. Better safe than sorry.

4Car attached and 2 car dettatched. Nice!!! I have 2 car attached no heat barely enough room for the Moomba Puller aka mommas truck. Boat has to stay outside in the backyard tarped out beside the kids IGLOO we are building from the huge pile of snow from shoveling the deck. Gotta make sure its big enough for me as Xmas seasons here and might need a place to sleep if i come home having a couple to many wobbly pops and start snoring again. HAHA

i copied you idea ed and it turned out great i have different spacings cause the bindings on my wakeboards needed more width so they don't hit the board on top of it. holds 3 wakeboards my snowboard set of skis and my surf board i'll take a pic and post for you guys to see my copy cat work. thanks for the great and cheap board rack idea!

I'm not "handy" at all so I opted for buying bike racks at the local hardware store for six bucks a piece. They hold 50lbs and do a nice job. I just installed two of them took all but ten minutes for both.

I was just talking about the cabinets. Construction down here is all the same. They pour a slab and then attach some sticks and vinyl to it covered with shingles then tile the inside. Voila!

I'm already lost. I think the overlay is whether the door covers the entire frame, right? European or frameless I have no idea.

The hinges are mostly hidden now and just about have to be on the full overlay, right? I have one (replacement) cabinet in my current kitchen where the door only opens just past 90 deg. so you have to reach around it to get the plates in there. Am I on the right track?

You're right there. No matter how much logic I apply or reasoning, it will still be the ones she thinks "look nice". I'm the guy that stained oak cabinets to a cherry color for her. Ugggg!

I know I was late to post this, but I got the Idea from a product in Bart's or Overton's called a Ski ladder or something like that, but I just did it with utility rope 2 Strands doubled about 7 feet long and anchored with a nail each at the top. Tie the knots where needed. Simple and keeps things out of the way. I did it with rope I had laying around, so it was at no cost!

No it's Mine! I've had it since I was 16 yrs. old. I used to ski behind a Mercury 85hp that you could just about stop with the EP in a good turn! I Ski a Connelly FX now. To much water up the nose on the Starts with the EP. I've thought about replacing the Rubber and giving it a try now that I'm skiing behind the Direct Drive. Do you still ski your's Kane???

You guys and your EPs. I had mine when I was 14 through 16 then it got stolen from my car. Made the move to the Obrien Competitor. At the time top of the line. Didn't think the EP was worth cryin over after that.

I did a few year stint on a Kidder. Man that thing was wicked fast. Thank goodness I got too big for the 63 and made the move back to an obrien 66, I kind of scared me going over the wake that fast. Haven't left the family since.

That is INCREDIBLY neat compared to mine. The bikes alone for 6 kids are more than can really fit in there. Throw in dirtbikes, lawnmowers, ski equipment, etc. I need to build a garage and then a house to go with it.

This was a great method, I built mine a few weeks ago. Since that pic, I discovered that I could hang my daughters trianer ski flat on the wall behind all the boards, so now everything is right there in one spot.

Looks good. Easy to grab the boards you need and go. Also you should have said "but i dont have one yet" Give it time and another board always makes it way into the collection.

like the idea but it would never work in my garage.... we do all our woodworking in the garage and everything would be covered in dust in about 2 days! all my boards and gear stay in our storage shed at the lake... it's 80feet from the water so no biggie to come back to the cabin and get the stuff after we've launched the boat.

This brings me to a question- any need to worry about boards/skis warping if they are left on the rack like that for a length of time? I realize yes with wood skis - but I have no idea with composites...?

No you shouldn't have to worry about warping as warping is caused when an object is to heavy for the support system holding it.

Like if you have a 12 ft 2x4 and you put the supports in the middle area and you see it bow. Thats whats causing the warp. As long as the item is sitting with the proper amount of support for its weight you wont get warping.

Also wood will warp much easier as it breaths with the atmosphere.

Fiberglass and plastic type boards, skis, wont warp unless they get very hot and flexible in a 2 post rack like that.

I keep my boards, vests, ropes, and even Z5 rack in the ceiling rafters on my garage and never had any issues.

I can't even store boards in my garage long term. Way too much dirt in the air spring - fall and the spiders will make a resort condo for sure! I live in Ag country so critters are a way of life especially when surrounded by almond orchards. I had to put on a new insulated garage door as well. My house faces west so it would heat up to well over 120 in the summer! All our boards reside in my home office when not in use.

If you count the camper camper there is a bed and running water. But no water hook up I am about 350' from our septic.

Looks good. There is nothing like having enough room to work on the boat and it makes it so much easier to pull the boat in & out of storage if you don't have to lower the tower.
