As I posted before I want a bigger board than the 134 Ronix I ride, I am 5'9" 170 pounds and I am looking at two boards and wanted opinions. I am looking at the Ronix One 138 and the Byerly Assault in the 55" 140 and can't seem to decide, I wish I lived closer to a shop that would let me try out one, but I don't. Just looking for opinions on these or another board in these price ranges and to make sure they are the right size for me.

Thanks Matt

I am the same size and weight. I used to ride a 136, but I find that I lose less energy in a jump with a 140. I use a LF Shane.

Either are good. I ride a 138 2008 One and I weigh about 185. I've rode bigger boards and I like them as well. I just ordered a Slingshot Recoil 142 which will work as well.

I like the One. Fairly predictable, relatively slow, easy surface spins and decent landings.

I'm 5'10" 150lbs and ride a 138 Faction. I don't like the board as it's heavy and I don't pop on it.

I rode the Ronix Frontier and 2 slingshots. The slingshots are amazing, light, great pop and soft landings, it really does it all. The Ronix was very good too and much better than my CWB but after the slingshot that is where my money is going. I've only ridden the Response so not sure if I'm getting it or the Recoil nor 137or142.

I wanted to try a Ronix One but no demos around me (and SubIV).

I would say 138 is your minimum size and wouldn't be shy on the 142.

^^^^

Go with the 138 Recoil. You won't regret it. My "One" is Ok - but I'm looking forward to my Recoil showing up.

Thanks guys for the input, still trying to make a decision. Was wondering how many holes back do you mount the rear binding? currently I use have one open hole in the back, and one on the forward foot, it feels all right but a little tail heavy and wonder if you all move yours closer to the center.

Thanks Matt

I'm 5'8" 155lbs and ride a Ronix Covin 138. I'd say the 134 is too small for you. A little bigger board should not really affect your riding much and will actually offer a bit more pop and softer landings due to more surface area but will weigh a tiny bit more for spins/inverts.

The Covin is a great board and is really fast which I like. Locked in too. I can go W2W from about 6 feet outside the wake on my board.

A week ago I got to take out a new Company (flex like Slingshot) 144. Board was fun to ride and I had no trouble sticking a Backroll into the flats on that board. People think the extra 2-3 inches will stop them from progressing but it's really not that big of a deal.
