I always liked how Cobalts had hinged seats, so I added some to my LSV. Cobalt will cut any size you want, but I just went with 12" for the two seats I hinged. Cost about $15 per foot. An added bonus is that these are the two seats I was worried about flying away when I towed coverless, so that's no longer an issue. Anyway, here are some quick camera phone pics.

That's a great idea. I may even hinge my front seats, too. My 2000 OB LS had hinges, and my 2007 OB V doesn't.

I Like too. So your able to give a little lift on the front side, slide out some, then grab the back to open?

I practiced on my boat so yours should go quite nicely. Taking the drill to the fiberglass for the first time was a little nerve racking, but not bad. Think of it as preparation for cutting holes in the hull for more ballast intakes.

I like the fact that they won't blow out, as I almost always trailer mine open, but I really like being able to remove them for cleaning, and to fold the tower down into the 20ssv, you have to remove several of the cushions or the tower sets on top of them, crushing them.

where did ya get those hinges? pretty cool idea! Thanks! I went through my dealer (also a Cobalt dealer) who ordered them from Cobalt. I would imagine you could bypass the dealer though and go straight to the source.

Just one update... the hinges came pre-drilled with only three screws per side, and I was worried about the stress if someone were to lean on an open seat. I drilled a few more holes, added some screws, and sleep a lot better now. :)

are the screws self tapping on the cushion side of the hinge? and for the fiberglass side of the hinge, did you use nuts on the underside or just screws that hold in the fiberglass. Very cool idea, I will be copying this.

I pre-drilled both the fiberglass and the seat bases, then used #10 x 3/4" stainless screws on both sides. Good luck!
