Moon Lake, in Monroe, Louisiana, will be the site of the second annual Moon Lake Re-aWAKEning on July 23-26. This is a grassroots, freeride type event with a double up contest occurring on Saturday, July 25. This is the site of the original Louisiana Spring Flings.
More and more details will be posted as the event nears. Please feel free to post any questions, comments, or suggestions. This "event" is less about the event and more about riding, riding, and more riding.
For those of you not familiar with Moon Lake, Moon Lake is actually a cove off of the Ouachita River. The Ouachita River boasts miles upon miles of unobstructed wakeboarding bliss. The river is wide enough that 2 boats can pass with ease, yet narrow enough that wind is rarely much of a factor. Sandbars line many of the bends of the river, and offer a great place to park your boat and chill for a while. Ask anyone who has ever ridden on the southern parts of the Ouachita River, and they can attest to its greatness.
Keep an eye on this site or on www.louisianawakeboarding.com for more details.

June Update

Moon Lake Re-aWAKEning (MLR) is coming together to be quite an event. Tentatively, we are to have 2-3 pro wakeboarders on hand throwing down as only the pro’s can. Their names will be released upon confirmation of exactly who’s coming. Of course, the double-up contest will be the highlight of the event. Riders will get 2 passes at double-ups to show us what they have. Winners will receive free wake gear and cold hard American cash, amount to be determined based upon the number of entrants to the contest.
Also on tap is the renaming of MLR. Moon Lake had been pretty much a dead area for about a year due to some construction. The first annual Moon Lake Re-aWAKEning was established to bring life back into the area, and, WOW, did that happen!. Anyway, now with Moon Lake as bustling as ever, we are looking for a better name for the event. The current name just doesn’t have a nice ring to it, and we are going to allow you, the riders, to rename the event to what ever you wish to call it. The event is held in Monroe, LA, on a cove off of the Ouachita River (pronounced washita) named Moon Lake, so a name that incorporates Monroe, Louisiana, or Ouachita River would be most appropriate. A prize and/or prizes will be given to the winner of the rename MLR contest. The winner must be present at the event to claim his or her prize. Post your entries to the contest on this website or on Louisianawakeboarding.com. In the event of 2 entries with the same suggestion, the first to submit the entry will win.

More updates coming soon………

HOTEL info:

thus far, one hotel has agreed to accommodate for MLR, but we expect others to follow suit. Here's what we have so far:

The Atrium Hotel
rooms: $59 (+tax) per night
suites: $119 (+tax) per night
This hotel boasts 24 hour security, an on site bar, and other amenities offered by most hotels. It's located on Louisville Avenue making it a bit cumbersome to get to when pulling a boat, but having security is a great plus. They have set aside some rooms for the event, so be sure to mention the event when booking.

On Saturday of the event, just before the double-up contest (around noon), there will be a best stereo contest. Not loudest, best. Boat stereo will be judged on appearance, overall sound and clarity, and of course volume. Prizes will be awarded. Come to Funroe and show us what you got!
