Transom Protector

Has anyone tried this product or use it currently? I'm thinking of ordering it for the transom to protect it from scuffing and other damage that occurs from people putting on wake boards and from wake surfing boards hitting the transom.

its clear and i like that because it would be pretty invisable.

I think id need to see some pics of it on your boat. It seems to me it doesnt cover what im worried about. Maybe im worried about the wrong thing LOL. I was thinking i needed something that goes from the very edge of the transom and up to the rub rail < above the moomba sticker > and then it goes below the swim deck also to protect the who back from the surf boards. Maybe im over killing it.

I found 2 small chips in my gell coat. 1 on the back but it was very high up near the starboard locker. One where people get in the boat. I think someone musta had something in there shoe and i missed it. I tell everyone no shoes..

The one on the back i can only imagine being from a wakeboard hitting while getting in or out of the water.

Guess this means i got water sport damage scares now.

Looks pretty good. So you only use it when Surfing? Or can you leave it on for wake boarding? I got a couple small scratches i need to buff out from wake boards on the swim deck too.

Or do you normally put it on at the dock and leave it on the whole time on the water?

OK thanks Ed ill look into it more before making a decision. I think it will be a couple more weeks before i can grab one. I really need to get an anchor and stake anchor so i can park the boat in the water. Dam thing keeps floating away when your swimming and hanging out in the water lol.

Mmandley, Those freaking fancy shore stakes are freaking expensive! Here's a couple of very low cost alternatives to anchor stakes i use.

Rocky Shoreline:
Go to Home Depot and buy a 24" or 36" steel rebar stake. Next go to the irrigation section and but a piece of 3/4" schedule 40 white PVC irrigation pipe & two 3/4" slipon caps for the same and a small can of PVC glue. Cut the pipe slightly longer than the stake and glue one cap on. Insert your stake into the tube and press the other cap on. Now you have an anchor stake with it's own case, works like a charm. $10 or so

Sandy Shoreline:
In the hardware section of Home Depot where the have the chain, rope and such they have bright orange tapered large plastic tree stakes, these make awesome sandy shoreline shore stakes! They even have a hole in the top to pass a shoreline through! $10 or so

Shoreline:
Also at HD where the sandy stake is they have colored floating poly rope in 100' bundles for $9 i think, great shoreline! Can't miss it floating and drys quick!

Great tips Razz ill be hitting up the HD real soon and shopping for those. Only question i have is the rocky shore stake, how are you tying the rope to it? Are you drilling a hole in the top and threading it threw?

The rope you mentioned, can it be used as the primary anchor line too? I saw a 150ft reel at the store it was like 35 or 40 bucks 3/8 line if i recall. I was thinking of grabbing that and

Great tips Razz ill be hitting up the HD real soon and shopping for those. Only question i have is the rocky shore stake, how are you tying the rope to it? Are you drilling a hole in the top and threading it threw? First off i use an Anchor Buddy (http://www.tuggyproducts.com/anchorbuddy.html) on the bow dropping anchor about 50' out with the stern facing the shoreline. I drive the stake in at a 25-30 degree angle backwards then using the shoreline I pull the boat into the shore until it's 15-20 feet off the shore, tie a quick loop in the shoreline and just slip it over the stake to the ground. Never had a problem yet. Btw i use a snap link on the boat end and clip it to a transom tiedown loop. When you board just pull the boat in just shy of hitting the prop and rudder and climb on. And clip it to your buoy when leaving

one of these for the nose anchor. I was going to use one of those too until i read a mess of reviews (http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0037213018123a.shtml#customer-product-reviews), that's just a few, there's others. I dunno i still might try it if i hear good news on it. Currently i just use a 15 pound river anchor and it holds well on our lakes. I have a Greenfield also that's a hit or miss too.

Looks like this when done correctly. In this pic it was the first anchorage & outing after we bout it last year! i couldn't find my blasted transom clip! Had to ty to the pylon until i found it. Notice i also placed a large rock on the rope to keep it down.
