Can anyone tell me where the stock ballast bags go in the 2001-2005 OB LS and Mobius LS? My LS has no ballast and I want to add a little ballast and am not sure where to put it. I assume the natural place to start is under the rear bench seat, but I'm having a hard time finding a bag that would fit well back there. It's not a very tall space. If it goes there, does anyone know what brand/size? I've seen a few people talk about putting ballast in the rear ski locker, but I've also heard this is a bad idea.

I'm guessing the other spot is the floor ski locker. Is there a 3rd spot (I assume there is, hence the name gravity 3)?

You have my attention. I'm thinking about putting some in my 02 also.

I put a small bag across the floor in the rear ski locker of the outback LS. I only have 2 other bags so I can put them along either side of the engine for wakeboarding or put them in an L shape for surfing with one going across behind the engine in front of the seat and one going along the port side on the floor. I think your seat is the one that has an "up" position so you can fit a bag underneath it. Lots of folks do that. Just need one that is kind of long but not real thick. You might not be able to fill it up all the way either.

I have a Mobius LS '05. It came will ballast under the back seat. It is not a bag, but hard plastic. It adds 500 to the back. I then add 300 to the ski locker(think long and skinny for the bag). Once I add in my large riding partners(they range from 225 - 300lbs), we end up with a great wake.

My 2004 LS has a hard tank under the rear seat and a bag in the front locker, I was under the impression each one holds some where around 400 lbs.

mimoomba, how do you like your monster tower? I'm very happy with mine this year. I got the new monster tower cargo bimini and installed it and love that.

Because you said you were interested, here is what I think i've decided on the ballast after getting help from jason at wakemakers and ed g. I'm going to go flyhigh and get 2 v drive bags that are 16 by 16 by 42. The space under teh rear seat is about 8 by 16 by 80. So, I can only fill them halfway up, but that supposedly isn't a problem at all. That will give 400 pounds or so. Then, I'm putting a fly tubesac in the ski locker, about 350 pounds. Having the 2 v drive bags would allow me to pull them out of that compartment if I really want a ton of weight and fill them giving me 800 pounds out of them. I'm going to try it.

Be sure to let us know how it works out. The more pics the better.

Luv the tower and thanks again for your help with it!;) Now if the weather will just warm up around here so we can get some use out of it.

I'll be interested in how the sacs work for you. Keep us posted.

I have a 02 LS, and here is what I did. I have a bag underneath the back seat, not for sure what kind, but it is 500lbs. I also put another 600 lbs in the very back ski locker. I used front end tractor weights, rhino-lined them, and stuck them in there. I still have room for my jackets, and other misc. stuff. It works great. A little bit more difficult to plane out, but the wake is epic......

I have a 400lbs under the seat in the stern, 680lbs between the seat and back of the engine cover and a 400lb i the front ski locker. With the DD boat make sure to keep weight back behind the engine if you like the wake steep and tall. I hope your set up is pretty sick!

I have a 01 and have the stock ballast in the rear seat, a bag in the ski locker, and a bag under each front seat. I estimate 400 in the rear, 300 in the locker, and 300 under each seat for a grand total of 1300. I also ride at 75' at 22 to 24 depending on rider.

I have an 01 LS and i moved the fuel tank under the rear seat(new tank-long and narrow) and put an alu plate in the rear where the fuel take was with a 650lb bag and a 300lb sac in the ski locker. BY FAR THE ONLY WAY TO GO. the farther i moved the weight back, the better it got so i played with what i had until i got what i was looking for. hope this helps

I just bought the fly high 750lb bag for my 05 DD. I have to leave the back seat home when I use this one. Hope it will work out ok. I just got done plumbing it in. Had to lengthen hoses. I am not going to try any other ballast with it. I am going to see how this will work so far. I am no expert anyway.
