I am looking at buying this boat. Do you guys think is a good buy? Or should I hold off for something different/better price.

With those options and those hours, assuming everything is in good shape as it appears, that sounds pretty fair to me.

It is a BUYERs market. You should look at the boat to make sure that it is in good shape, which it appears to be. As the weather warms up, usually boat prices trend upward also. It may not happen given our economy, but you don't want to wait til April and risk paying a lot more.
Make sure that you are buying the right boat for you and your needs and not just one that fits into your budget. $20K is still a lot of money.

I have found ski/wakeboard prices are a little higher in the northern states do to lack of dealers/competition and demand. Should mention I'm in WI.

I had an 04 Outback.. fun boat!
That should be a good price if it is all that is says it is..
I believe I saw it on Ebay last summer, so must have been for sale for a while! Neat pole on the trailer for folding down the tower..

The $18.5k you offered looks close to NADA low book with guessing on some stuff. The low hours can be a plus if they maintained the engine during those periods when it wasn't used. I would use low book for purchasing used big ticket items during these times.

Hoopskier - Yes, it's a buyer's market, so take advantage of the opportunity to get the most for your buck. Looks like a nice boat. In the Moomba line up the Outback is my favorite boat. Other than some minor changes to the graphics, the '03 you are looking at is pretty much the same as my '07. The tower looks exactly the same. I like the fuel injection too. Some guys are fine with the carburated engine, but like me you may have a better experience with the fuel injected engine. Hope this is a good boat and you can swing a good deal. - Deerfield

I sold my 04 Outback a little more than a year ago for $19.5k with more hours and less options (no tower). GREAT boat, you will love it!

Thanks guys, that was the feed back I was hoping for. This will be my first boat. I have been skiing for many years though. I am looking for the best bang for my buck and still have something good that my family can enjoy.

I agree with fuel injection thing, that was one of my requirements on the boat.

On a technical note, can anyone tell me what the OEM prop was, he has the 4 blade on it but doen't have the OEM 3 blade anymore. The guy just tells me the 4 blade is better but from what I have read the new CNC 3 blades are perfoming better than 4.

I am not certain about the prop, but my 2001 Outback DD came with a OJ 3 blade 13x13.

Hoopskier - You may need to contact Skiers Choice for the answer. Page 57 of the 2003 Moomba manual confirms that model year did offer an optional 220 HP EFI engine. But there is no information on the prop specs. According to USA Water Ski, the 2008 Moomba Outback certified for three-event tournaments must have this prop: OJ, 3 blade, 13 x 11, Nibral. Hope this helps. - Deerfield

My 04Outback came with a Nibral 3 Blad3 13x13 That was standard on 04 to Current I believe.
Upgrade prop is 4 blade
I believe you will gain hole shot and better towing with that prop that is on it, but lose a little top end. if speed/economy is what you are chasing, get a 3 blade 13 x 13.. it was plenty on mine, but I stumped it and replaced it with a 13 x 11 OJ XMP.. that was the factory upgrade wake prop on Outbacks..

Stock Prop was probably a 13x13. I've seen this boat on craigslist. The guy who owns that boat I believe was on the boards a couple of times. Maybe check with Lauderdale Lakes Marine where the boat probably came from and see if Brian or someone there can give you a heads up on it. No opinion on the price, that's your call based on research and what you feel comforatable with.

I did purchase the boat, I was curious about the stock prop. Might look into getting a spare in the future. I think I payed a "fair" price. The boat is pretty mint and has few goodies on it, seemed like it was well maintaned. I wouldn't say i got a screamin deal.

I mainly plan on Lake Wausau, and Lake DuBay. Both are large and have good skiing spots protected from the wind.

Right, missed that your from Wausau. Nice area, there was a time my wife and I thought about moving there. Now I can't stop her from wanting to move to Florida ha ha.
