You won't be disappointed. In my opinion it is the single easiest improvement you can make that you will definatly notice! PS while you're at it try to add the SUb at the same time.

I have a 2006 LSV. Would these be a direct replacement or are mods necessary to get them to work?

The speaker diameter is smaller, I did have to redrill the holes. Hooked them to the stock reciever. I dont have an amp yet. They still sound good though. I did disconnect the rear speakers. I have plans to put subs back there.

Dont go with the pyle amps you will be disappointed, I had a one it was way underpowered.

I went with the JL M6600 from crutchfield pricey but can handel all my need with one amp. 499.00 maight be able to find it cheaper online i trust crutchfield for my amp though.

Go with the Kicker amps. I have two. The Kicker MX700.5 and the MX350.4 I have had zero problems with them. Here are some pictures.

Is it critical to go with a marine grade Amp

I don't know that it's critical but the Marine amps are obviously better suited to deal with moisture. My Outback used to pull the old submarine trick pretty regularly so I put the M series JL in our LSV when we got it. Luckily, we've never subbed the LSV. I think it boils down to if you're up to taking the chance or not. If you mount it high, it would probably be ok. What do others think?
