How to change oil in a DD

Can someone help a newbie by explaining in pretty good detail how to change the oil on a direct drive 2007 Mobius LS? Do you need an oil pump? Or can you drain the oil out? If so, how?

Do you have a center drain plug? If so, get the engine warm and drop the drain hose down the center drain. should be a breeze if the oil is warm..

on your filter, get you a shopping bag and a gallon ziploc.. use your wrench to loosen the filter then wrap the ziploc around it and screw it off... have something handy to catch drippings after you remove the ziploc and you should be ready to put new filter on.. don't forget to fill the new filter about 1/2 full of oil before installing... wipe a little on the threads and o-ring seal on the filter..and make sure o-ring came off with the old filter!

Other than that, you should be good to go ><>

Just to add to Brads notes, the drain hose is usually cipped onto a hanger behind the engine on the drivers side right around the relays cluster.

Garn - Mine is an older DD but I'm guessing the process is the same. There is a rubber hose coming out of where the drain plug in the oil pan is. It is laced up through everything and is clipped to a piece (sleds "hanger") up on the top rear of the engine. Mine has a yellow fitting with a brass plug you unscrew to drain. Disconnect the clip and run the hose down through the drain hole in the bilge into whatever you're going to collect it in. As they said, make sure the engine is at temp or it'll take all day.

It doesn't hurt to also take the oil cap off while draining the oil so that you don't create a vacuum in the block, another reason it will drain slowly.

Yea, then you can turn a 6-pack job into a 2 beer event. Makes a lot of sense, especially in the off season when you're just sittin' around listening to the tower speakers and dreaming of the water.
