How To: Swivel Seat Mount...

***WARNING: TRY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. IF YOU MESS UP YOUR BOAT BY FOLOWING THESE INSTRUCTIONS IT IS YOUR OWN FAULT!***

Tools Required:
13mm Socket Wrench w/extension (I used a 12” extension)
Phillips Head Screw Driver bit and Drill
Lareg Drill bit (I think I used 3/8” or ½”?)
Small Drill bit (I have no idea what size I used, it was small)

Parts Required:
Swivel Seat Bracket (WestMarine part #: 412124)
9” x 13” adapter plate (This you will have to procure your self. I had mine made out of ¼” AL)
8: 3/8 x 1" bolts (rounded head)



This is what the Swivel Seat bracket looks like. I bought it from West Marine for about $25.

Here is my stock Outback seat; I think that all of the 08 and earlier Moomba’s have the same seat/seat track/brackets, but I’m not 100% sure, so again your process might be different.

Step 1: Remove the bottom seat cushion. Its easy, just pull up on the cushion and stash it out of the way.

Step 2: Remove the 4 13mm bolts to take the seat off of the seat tracks. Put the seat out of the way.

Take care not to loose any of the spacers, washers, nuts, and bolts. I put mine in the cupholder.

Step 3: Remove the 10 screws holding the fiberglass base to the floor of the boat.

Step 4: Flip the base upside down and remove the 4 13mm bolts holding that secure the seat tracks.

Step 5: Now you'll need to use the swivel mount to mark and drill the new mounting holes. You'll be mounting the swivel directly to the base.

Ian I am waiting in eager anticipation! The lack of swivel is one of my main gripes with the new Moomba seats. I have the XLV so hopefully I can still do this mod cause I have limited room to swivel cause of the back of the seat rest behind the drivers seat. I will be doing this mod for sure over winter, thanks for the pic's and post.

I'd just like to get 90 degrees to face the spotter seat while anchored.

Gotcha, I kind of figured this as in my old Nitro you could swivel the drivers seat but you had to half swivel it, then pull it forward and finish the swivel.

Ian correct me if im wrong but you want the seat to not be mounted to the slider anymore mounting it too the swivel in its place, so the seat will now be stationary??? Dont you think that you could have made a plate to mount to the slider and then drill/tap holes into the plate for the swivel, Then make another plate for the seat and drill/tap into a plate for the swivel to mount to to complete the pair

Also If you did this you may be able to cheat over to the side so the seat wont rub the sides when rotating

the best part about making adaptor plates is there really wouldn't be any drilling of factory parts if things didn't go as planned take them out and your back to stock.

Sorry just some constructive thinking

Also a benifit of making adap. plates is the added height when sitting in the seat

I am looking forward to seeing it finished. If your garage is cold you could always do what my collage roommates and i did to hear it up. get a bottle of rubing alc and light it on fire. Burns clean with no mess afterwords. Also does great on heating up the area or lighting your friends on fire.

Natz, did you put this in? I just wonder if it requires drilling or if it fits some standard bolt pattern. I also wonder if it makes the seat sit up higher.

I was wondering the same thing. Also, Look at the handle. It is on the wrong side. I wonder if the handle is universal? Can it be placed on the other side of the slide. I would love to get the spec sheets on it.

I think with that platform you would have to go all the way to just floor and then just put that in with your seat.
