View Full Version : Ed G IS EXPECTING!!!!!

10-01-2008, 02:07 PM
An Outback V that is...with all the trimmings.

Stay tuned as details unfold daily illustrating the birth of Ed's new baby.

I wonder if Ed has a name yet?

10-01-2008, 02:11 PM
Are you going to be in the delivery room taking photos? That's very cool. Don't forget to leave him a trinket to find someday.

10-01-2008, 02:12 PM
bet you're excited...

10-01-2008, 02:38 PM
Natalie, make sure to give her a wack on the stern when she comes out of the delivery room.

Congrats Ed.

10-01-2008, 05:03 PM
Moomba Martha’s egg has been planted and growing at a rapid pace.

On Oct. 1st she received her gel coat.

Awe…what a beauty she will be!

Gene Owens…priceless photos...priceless!

This is an awesome idea for a thread! I was fortunate enough to be able to go on a tour of the factory right before our boat was built, so I got to see all the steps, but its still cool to see again - especially when its a member of the boards' boat getting built!

10-01-2008, 05:25 PM
Do we need to throw some sort of shower for the proud parents?

Gift ideas:

new board shorts

10-01-2008, 05:27 PM
DEFINITELY-- some new shorts!!!!

10-01-2008, 06:06 PM
no saran wrap

10-02-2008, 10:33 AM
Please get the proud new pops some new shorts...I am sure the Ms. and the new arrival will appreciate it!!! (So will I)

Moomba Martha is moving right along...

10-02-2008, 10:41 AM
way cool.... very nice touch to post for us. Pretty much seals the deal when I get my new boat... Supra 24 SSV!

10-02-2008, 10:51 AM
I can't help but notice that since we started building you a new boat our web sites have been crashed with chinese and russian internet porn providers.

Coincidence? Not likely.

10-02-2008, 11:33 AM
Please get the proud new pops some new shorts...I am sure the Ms. and the new arrival will appreciate it!!! (So will I)

Moomba Martha is moving right along...

Thank you so much for posting these. Just one more reason I am a Moomba owner for life. I bet no owners of other boats get this kind of attention.

10-02-2008, 11:35 AM
That's for sure.

Ed, I love your idea of making an album for posterity. I always save the window sticker off my new cars so I can stick it back in the window when I go to sell. The buyers love being able to see the original price and options, etc.

10-02-2008, 02:20 PM
Her skin is forming and Martha is getting backbone!

10-02-2008, 02:32 PM
i think this is the thread of the year for us owners to see this

10-03-2008, 10:32 AM
I don't know. I'm a little uncomfortable seeing Martha all bare and vulnerable looking like that.

10-03-2008, 01:11 PM
While I was gone yesterday Gene said Martha's deck went from starting to dilate to 7 cm and her hull went to 9 cm. She’s getting ready to push folks....

She's going to be a beauty!!!

ian ashton
10-03-2008, 01:41 PM
Very very cool; I can't wait to see what it looks like!

10-06-2008, 12:02 PM
She is fully dilated and we can see the head. Gene says...get the salad spoons man!

Ed, don't freak out....the green is to be expected. So are you nervous, excited?

ian ashton
10-06-2008, 01:52 PM
When we went of the factory tour I saw the lime green molds and said that I thought that should be a color they offered, lol...

10-06-2008, 02:51 PM
Hey...we do offer lime green...It's hot! My favorite gel coat out there...beside black! Which by the way the two look really good together.

10-06-2008, 03:50 PM
I love Cigars...Torpedo please.

10-06-2008, 04:05 PM
At this point its waiting to go up the rigging line. Rigging will start Tuesday am.

10-07-2008, 09:17 AM
Guess who's getting built...RIGHT NOW!
Her deck and hull have been separated (temporarily) to be built! Her deck is getting deck carpet and hardware as her hull gets all the transom and underwater gear installed.

10-07-2008, 09:51 AM
Yikes? Thats good stuff!

So, I've got more photos’.....Check out the finished luxurious interior panel for the newly designed bow area of the Outback V...nice.

Baby... got back!

10-07-2008, 10:18 AM
Yes siree -
It's me
Johnny B

Her deck is now having the upholstery and dash installed while the hull is being carpeted. IT'S A REALLY BIG DAY FOR MARTHA! She'll probably even have a personality by the end of the day!

...btw - a blunt will be just fine.

10-07-2008, 11:50 AM
Look at her...you can see what a beauty she is going to be.

10-07-2008, 11:57 AM
Here are a few more photos....

10-07-2008, 12:18 PM
You saw that the hull has been carpeted...but check this out. The engine is awaiting install.

Check out photo of Johhny B and GeneO...my arm is in background too.

10-07-2008, 03:06 PM
Thanks all of you for making this so much fun. It's as though we're all there in the delivery room sharing Ed's joy!

10-07-2008, 04:38 PM
Wow, this is just the coolest thread I have ever seen! It's almost like being able to walk her through the assembly line! Next SC will be installing "baby cams" like day cares have.

Ed, I think I saw somewhere where you were trying to get the pictures in order. I think that when you load pics into the albums, they are last in, first shown. So, wait till the end and download them backwards.

10-07-2008, 04:53 PM
For a short time, before her deck was permanently attached to the hull, she sang. It was beautiful Ed

10-07-2008, 05:08 PM
Here goes, this part is truly where it all comes together.

Drum roll please..........

10-07-2008, 05:23 PM
And did a little work on Martha.....none other than the #1 Wake skater in the World...

Reed actually put some of the screws in for Martha's rub rail on the right side. So, if your rub rail falls off or you notice that big scratch on the right side...it's Reed's fault!!! (Just kidding, he did great!)

Johnny B...Geno who has a band aide?

10-07-2008, 05:54 PM
Very cool (boat and thread). Can't imagine where else you could keep in the loop like this and get updates near real time. That's awsome.

10-07-2008, 08:00 PM
wow, she's a coming along and lookin good

10-07-2008, 09:12 PM
awesome thread... Congrats Ed!!!

10-07-2008, 10:20 PM
Well Ed - she had a big day but did very well. She only got upset once when she realized she didn't have one of her wire tie blocks but we got her one REAL quick! All is quiet at the plant now and I imagine she's resting well. Tomorrow is another big day! She may even get a little "gassy" tomorrow afternoon!

10-08-2008, 08:51 AM
Time to wake up and get started on this hump day.

10-08-2008, 09:33 AM
It wont be long untill shes dropped in the water for her pool test , and then onto the big pool.

10-08-2008, 09:53 AM
Dang, Ed. She looks so good I think you ought to keep from tossing beercans on the floor for at least the first month.

10-08-2008, 10:16 AM
Water? I thought that was tea. I shouldn't have been drinking it.

ian ashton
10-08-2008, 10:17 AM
That is a really nice looking boat! I wasn't sure about the color combo, but it looks really rich inside, I like it a lot!

10-08-2008, 10:17 AM
Thanks for answering that Clermont question yesterday.

I found out I have to pass by you around Dec. 19 or so going to a wedding in Vero Beach. Maybe I can stop by and hold baby Martha for a minute.

10-08-2008, 11:44 AM
Please let me introduce the deck crew that will be delivering Martha and sending her to the Lake Test crew for her first ride on the water.

Left to right:
Jacob Dudley, Andy Gordon, Karen Flaska, Team Leader Pam Owens (FYI has to deal with Gene Owens) and Jason Holland.

(Take notice of the Moomba Maniac shirts)

Keep a watch out....Martha will be sprouting her tower soon!

ian ashton
10-08-2008, 11:52 AM
So the question that begs to be asked;

How do I get a Moomba Maniac shirt?

10-08-2008, 12:02 PM
Its a rainy day here in Maryville, but I'm sure baby Martha doesn't mind going for her first swim in the rain... its good for her soul..

10-08-2008, 12:11 PM
I Want One Of Those Shirts

10-08-2008, 01:08 PM
If that rub rail falls off, its not my fault!!! I might have stripped out three screws trying to get that one in.....

Just Kidding brother, have fun with that boat!

The Boat looks great.

Reed Hansen

10-08-2008, 02:46 PM
Martha has a Tower!!!

10-08-2008, 02:48 PM
Oh and working with Label to offer the Moomba Maniac shirts. Do you want the exact same design or something new?

ian ashton
10-08-2008, 02:56 PM
I'll take all the gear I can get :)

I think it would be cool to have a link to the forum, like 'forums.moomba.com' or 'moomba.com/forums' and put that on a shirt with the logo too or something. Something to identify all of us nut-jobs as a group apart from all the rest, lol.

10-08-2008, 03:07 PM
same shirt, no changes would be good.

maybe put MOOMBA.COM/FORUMS across the back like Ian suggested.

10-08-2008, 03:35 PM
Her first trailer ride and taste of the water...

Ed GenO was very upset about getting wet to take those photos...But it was worth it.

Looks like she is ready for Lake Test!

10-08-2008, 04:17 PM
Ed, that is just wrong:)

10-08-2008, 04:24 PM
You know, I was thinking today that this is better than an ultrasound. It's like a "wombcam". Very cool!

10-08-2008, 04:32 PM
All right Ed! Keep it clean...

So, it took some convincing but our Lake Crew Supervisor, Charlie Gibson personally went out on Martha's first excursion and took some excellent shots.

10-08-2008, 04:34 PM
Oh yeah! Look at that wake in #3 there Ed. Cowabunga!!!! This was like a water baptism before the delivery.

10-08-2008, 04:40 PM
Don’t’ worry about all those loptie lou’s and high speed shots, Kasey Kahne knows what he’s doing….just kidding but Lake Crew had a blast...Martha’s got bite!

You know we owe a big thank you to Erny James our Graphic Designer for downloading all these pictures for us too..he edits all the scratches out! Okay just kidding again.

ian ashton
10-08-2008, 05:24 PM
This is so cool! It makes me want to order (another) new boat, just for the hope that I can get half of the attention!

10-08-2008, 05:35 PM
First off let me say WOW what a gorgeous boat and a huge thanks to skiers choice for all the attention to detail and for going out of their way to supply us with the best thread of the year (which my lawnmower thread closely followed in 2nd before the spam)

With that said, Ed I want you to know that I officially hate you now. Not only are you getting all the attention and lets not mention that Reed Hansen has personally worked on your boat, follow that up with pic 3 from above showing what has to be a super long surf pocket on an absolutely gorgeous boat and on and on and on…….yep I am officially jealous!

10-08-2008, 05:40 PM
Ed, You new boat looks amazing... so when are we going Wake Surfing behind it?

10-08-2008, 05:45 PM
She's got Decals...Looking hot!

So I wonder when the stork will make his appearance....stay tuned!

10-08-2008, 06:00 PM
seems like martha was made in about three days. Awesome job SC and Ed Congrats welcome to the OBV club.

10-08-2008, 06:14 PM
She still has 1st and 2nd QC

10-08-2008, 07:04 PM
Ed, she is beautiful, add me to the jealous list.
Congrats again...

10-08-2008, 08:13 PM
Congratulations on the new boat Ed. You'll have a blast in her. She throws a great wake and rides like a dream.

10-08-2008, 09:04 PM
Thanks Reed!

I just came back from seeing Bob Campbell and Rob. They thought that was great when I told them about the photos of you putting in the screws.

The fellow (Danny from Oklahoma) who purchased my Outback has a teenage son who is a wake skater and a HUGE fan of yours.

I'm surprised they haven't been making me offers to by THIS boat from me.

Kyle: I know your readin' this... sorry buddy, but you are going to have to wait at least 5 years to buy it!!

Dude! you (are) famous! We've been watching the birth unfold. What a neat process. Little jealous of the tower but Stella will be wearing one soon. Dawg, you call me in five years. I'll be there. If nothing else we'll drink a Beer!

How bout some kinda autograghed t-shirts for us Okies. We are trying to promote Moomba in this area. I got to tell you, I've got a (GOT MOOMBA?) sticker on my truck, and numerous times I've been asked "What the Heck
is a Moomba" My reply the " Best Wakeboard Boat Ever Made" Are we hooked or what. Good Luck with Martha she looks magnificent. ROCK ON!:D

10-08-2008, 11:29 PM
While we surf, Jesse can be back at my house seeing if he can cut the grass without rolling over.

If I brought a case of yeungling, a bag of cherries along with gas for the mower and Martha, could I get a wakesurf set behind her….of course after I finished cutting your grass!!!

Ed, she is beautiful, add me to the jealous list.
Congrats again...

Awesome looking boat..great color choice! Congrats!

Reed H, Russ W, and Skiers Choice employees, Natalie,
This is an awesome thread.. Shows the quality of the Team that is Skiers Choice. Great Family and focus on fun!

so, who is gonna get the delivery truck drive an Iphone to take pics along the drive to Clermont and keep updating this once Martha is passed off..

Keep it up.

10-09-2008, 09:37 AM
Well Ed she is almost polished up and ready to go. Its been a blast logging on and reading everyone's comments. But all great things must come to a end sooner or later. If I can help you at any time feel free to ask and I will do the best I can to accommodate you. Thanks again and I hope you enjoy Martha as I know you will. Final thoughts and pictures to follow!!!

10-09-2008, 12:28 PM
Well I am on vacation, but could not take the suspense; I had to check the board. I want to thank everyone for that gracious comments, its owners like you that make our jobs so rewarding. Thank you...really.

David "The Stork" in Transportation is preparing Martha's arrival to Florida.

Stay tuned for details surrounding the transportation process...pretty neat.

10-09-2008, 12:44 PM
Gene and I have made our standard final checks on Martha. A buff here - a shine there and she'll be ready for shrink wrap! Are ya ready?

10-09-2008, 01:34 PM
The boat is looking good!! I can not wait to see the wake and a pic of Ed on his first surfing session! Thanks again to the Skiers Choice crew, it has been a wonderful experience to watch the manufacturing process of the birth of Martha. I am very impressed with the process and the attention to detail.

On another note, I want Ed's boat in the color setup of the one sitting behind her!!

The updates from Natalie and the whole crew was very cool.It shows that the whole crew realizes, that they are producing great boats for Amped customers. It was cool seeing this boat being built for a great Mooba/Skiers Choice ambassador. That is agreat looking boat, best of luck with it Ed.

10-09-2008, 03:01 PM
JesseC? Do I hear someone signing up for the next profile? The Brittney/ Lime is an incredibly popular combo. And with all our striping options, there are limitless ways to combine the two colors.

10-09-2008, 04:03 PM
She's outside - waiting on the stork! Take a look at the pix - WHAT A SILHOUETTE!

10-09-2008, 10:16 PM
I'm w/ Jesse. That lime/blue combo looks great. May be a bit loud for a lifetime investment, but it sure looks sharp.

10-09-2008, 11:11 PM
Allright. I'm ready to puke now. Both of those colors are nice, but together? You guys are colorblind! In 1976 there was guy that ordered a '76 Eldorado convertible midnight blue with a green leather interior. When he saw it he wouldn't take delivery even though he'd have to forfeit the down payment. My Dad asked the dealer what they were going to do with the car. The guy said, "What else can we do? We're gonna paint it green!"

Kudos to Ed for looking at a little sample and picking out these magnificent colors. I'm sure they'll be using Martha in the brochures.

10-09-2008, 11:53 PM

Beautiful boat! Can't wait to read your post after taking her out for the first time.

Do you have any speacial plans for the maiden voyage? Candles, wine, soft music?

Naw, I'm guessing it'll be your favorite surfboards, a cooler full of ice cold Yeugling, and some gold old rock & roll!

Also, my thanks to SC for this awesome post and to all the great people that build these great boats.

10-09-2008, 11:53 PM

Your baby is almost on its way home. That is a great looking boat and a much better color then the green.

I would like to say thank you to the whole SC team on the love and care you take in building such a great boat. It shows that everyone takes pride in their work by the product you produce. This is a great thread on how the Moomba is built from start to finish.

10-10-2008, 12:22 AM
Allright. I'm ready to puke now. Both of those colors are nice, but together? You guys are colorblind!

I kind of like it! It reminds me of my old BMX Mongoose bicycle.

10-10-2008, 01:00 PM
Please let me introduce the deck crew that will be delivering Martha and sending her to the Lake Test crew for her first ride on the water.

Keep a watch out....Martha will be sprouting her tower soon!

all i know is the guy on the far left is the sexiest Moomba Maniac there is! haha!

10-10-2008, 03:17 PM
that lime green and blue is sick!!!!! my lsv now is all orange and i love it, but after seeing the lime green and blue, i might have to reconsider upgrading

10-15-2008, 06:57 PM
stay tuned!!!!

10-23-2008, 02:25 PM
There is a link to this thread from an article about the new site in waterski mag and other places. Exciting times for Skier's Choice and EdG and baby Martha.

Thats just nice! Very Nice. Great looking boat! many fun hours to come!

Looks like I'll be staying on I-Drive Jan 15-18 for SHOT Show... same time as Surf expo across the street..

Assuming pleasant weather, I would love to bum a surf wave off ol martha!

Congrats and hope you have a great weekend breaking her in!

Thread ressurection...

This is definitely one of the best threads on this board. From what I can tell it took between 3 and 4 weeks from start to delivery. For some reason I can not see any of EdG's posts in this thread other than ones that were quoted.

When I place my order I am going to try and get them to do the same thing for me. I have an ace up my sleeve that may help me out if they are short staffed when my boat is being constructed.

07-25-2009, 04:28 PM
For some reason I can not see any of EdG's posts in this thread other than ones that were quoted.

Ed deleted about 3850 post he had done, thats why you dont see them anymore.
