what size alternator

Does anyone know what size alternators came on the 98 outback 5.7 carb? I would like to know how many amps it is. I am running dual batteries using a VSR from SC and the alternator is not getting the cranking battery up over the 13.7 volts it needs to engage. Could it be the battery or the alternator?

Sounds like the alt. Contact DB Electrictrical; http://www.db-starter-alternator.com/. They are great with marine alts, had them do me a custom 100 amp one for my last boat.

My 98 barely reached 14 volts and drops to 13 with any accessory on such as the heater. You may need to do something with the regulator. I'll check on my alternator this weekend if I go out. I know I don't get much output regardless of the battery condition as I replaced the battery this spring.
